"The
twelfth battle was on Badon Hill and in it nine hundred and sixty men fell in
one day, from a single charge of Arthur's, and no-one lay them low save he
alone."
-Nennius, from History of the Britons, 8th Century
The legends of King Arthur were
inspired by an historical figure, a real person. He was a Romanized
Britain war chief; a cavalry leader whose success at the Battle of Badon Hill
around 537 AD would forestall the Saxon incursion for a full generation. And
whose glory would resound through the ages, a towering legend that inspires us
all, the basis for our medievalist yearnings a millennium and a half later.
Dagorhir's Badon Hill is a celebration of that history, and the legend.
This page is a work in progress
intended, like our event, to educate Dagorhir members on the history. More to
come....
