Just a few things about our policies-

Gameplay stuff-

We use expanded grappling rules. That means that we only look at torso armor (including shoulders) and steel helmets to determine if you are armored or not for the purposes of initiating grapples. Armored fighters can initiate grapples with other armored fighters.

Steel knees and elbows are allowed, as are "non-period grills," AKA SCA helmets. If you are not sure it is passing, contact me ahead of time.

Garb-

You need to be in garb to be on the field. Yes, we will be checking. Yes, if you are not in minimums or have visibly modern attire, you will be asked to fix the problem before you are allowed on the field. If we can see it, it is a problem.

Cabins-

Cabins are $50 for an entire cabin or $5 a person. Unless you rent an entire cabin, we cannot guarantee that you won't end up sharing it with other groups. The cabins have 21 bunks. They can probably fit 25-30 with people sleeping on the floor. There is plenty of space for gear. We will inspect the cabins before you leave.

Tenting-

Tenting is free and there is plenty of space. You are allowed to dig a fire pit and harvest deadfall, though I will not promise how much is going to be there. Your camp site must be restored to the way you found it prior to you leaving.

Water-

There is a hose line running out to the cabins. It is potable. There will be rinse showers. Think like what you see at the beach. You need to be decent when you shower off. EMR staff is freaking awesome, and will have golf cart mounted water stations that follow us around.

Weapons check-

We run a roving weapons check Friday evening. This means we come to you and check your melee weapons. We mark weapons that have been through weapons check. The way we mark them makes it VERY, VERY unlikely that it will accidentally fall off. If you are caught on the field with an unmarked weapon, that is seriously no bueno. If you injure someone with an unmarked weapon, there is a very real chance we will eject you from the site.

Missile weapons will be checked Saturday morning.

Start times-

We do not run on Dag time. When stuff is scheduled to start, it will start.

Intoxication-

Any underage drinking or use of illegal drugs will be cause for you to be ejected from the event and we will notify the authorities.

Personal Safety-

All of our event staff are committed to making this weekend the best experience possible for all involved. This means that if you have an issue related to personal safety, we are here to help you. If you feel uncomfortable, we will take you seriously. If you feel unsafe, we will help you. If you have an issue with someone, we will help resolve it. In addition to the folks running day and night events, Kiva Mastin, Ben Frey and Timothy Ward are available to you. Please, if you need to, find one of them."

After much deliberation, I have decided to cancel the Circus of Swords. It was just not coming together as quickly as it needed to, and it would be a disservice to the idea to do it poorly.

Instead, on Saturday night, get your quicks, enforcers, and chains together, because we're gonna play some freaking JUGGER!

On Saturday night, we will be playing Jugger.

So what is Jugger?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v6qckMHp7wU

Jugger is played under many names, but the idea is always broadly similar. Rugby with sticks. The idea is to get the skull into the other team's goal.

The teams have 5 people.

The quick- the quick is the only person who can handle skull. The quick can only be armed with a dagger. Each team can only have one quick.

Enforcers- the enforcers can use any weapon smaller than 6 feet and a shield that is no more than 24 inches in any dimension. There are 3 of them.

The chain- the chain may use a single weapon, with no limit on the length.

It is fast, it is brutal, it is a hell of a lot of fun. Make your teams (teams can have up to 8 ) and show us that you are awaiten.
