1  General / Dagorhir Discussion and Announcements / New Mexico? on: November 26, 2012, 01:15:26 pm
So, as much as I hate the Kool Kids Klub on here, there's really not anywhere else I can turn.

I'll probably be moving to Albuquerque, New Mexico, and I was curious if/where I would be able to find a dag practice.
Note:  I'd be willing to travel about 45 minutes to an hour out of my way for practice, but if I can find a nice place to live near practice/work.  That'd be great.
2  Gear / Garb & Equipment / Winter Kits on: January 05, 2012, 08:28:00 pm
During this winter instead of doing a lot of dag fighting i've been making a new kit for myself.  I'm working on making myself a Lich.  I plan to do this with tattered robes and some sweet PD weapons (probably a spear that looks like a scepter).

Is anyone else making a new kit during these cold winter times?
3  Gear / Garb & Equipment / Jester! on: October 11, 2011, 10:32:29 pm
A friend of mine, new to Dagorhir has chosen to play the persona of an evil jester (Heavily influenced by Kefka from FF6).
Not having any sewing experience he's looking towards purchasing it so that it looks good the first time.  Does anyone know where he can find a jester costume?  (Preferred colors include green and black)
4  General / Dagorhir Discussion and Announcements / Demonstration on: September 09, 2011, 11:11:23 am
I'll be allowed in the next few weeks to perform a demonstration of Dagorhir to my old highschool Euro Club.  Does anyone have any tips/tricks/advice they could give me for this?
5  General / Dagorhir Discussion and Announcements / Head Cam. (POV Camera) on: July 26, 2011, 01:44:40 pm
So i've found a sweet "action" camera and a band to mount it on my head.  While I know it's not period in the slightest.  Would anyone have a problem if someone were to wear one of these on the field while fighting?
6  Fighting / General Fighting Discussion / The topic of survival on: July 06, 2011, 12:56:42 pm
I'm stuck at an airport for 3 hours so I figured it'd be a great time to ask a question that's been on my mind.
I've noticed a lot of times when I fight, I fight to live another day.  Whereas I have friends who do there best to kill everyone off.  I was curious if I was the only one who did this or if living is more popular than dying.
7  General / Dagorhir Discussion and Announcements / Mount & Blade: With Fire and Sword on: May 17, 2011, 11:05:37 pm
New mount and blade game.  Anyone play?
8  Gear / Weapons & Armor / 3/4 thick wooden core on: March 28, 2011, 09:55:59 am
So i've been reading around this forum a bunch, and i've noticed a theme.  It seems that many people dislike 3/4th thick wooden core.  I'm just curious why?
9  General / New Dagorhir Members and Chapters / St. Augustine FL on: December 29, 2010, 03:53:10 pm
Hey, I have a friend who recently got into Dagorhir on a trip out to visit me as of now he lives in St. Augustine FL.  Unfortunately there is no practice around St. Augustine within a 1 hour drive (We checked the map).
So what we want to know is, is there anyone within an hour drive of St. Augustine where he may practice.
10  Fighting / General Fighting Discussion / A good Source? on: September 30, 2010, 10:48:08 pm
Since I have a small unit that fights in my backyard I've been going over fighter techs.  Since I've only been doing this for a bit over a year I figured I should learn some good skills before I attempted to teach others.  So my question is this:
Would the Association for Renaissance Martial Arts be a good place to learn different skills to use while fighting?
http://www.thearma.org/
Does anyone have experience with this website?
11  General / Dagorhir Discussion and Announcements / Dagorhir Achievement Points on: September 05, 2010, 12:44:06 pm
Ok so I've recently got a 360.  With that came my loads of achievement points.  So i'm wondering.  What would you give "achievement points" for in dagorhir.  I'll start

1.  Joined Dagorhir - 15
2.  T-tunic and scrub pants - 30
3.  First Sword - 30
4.  Sword passed weapons check -30
5.  First practice - 20
6.  Used a blue - 20
7.  Used a red - 20
8.  Used a spear - 20
9.  Went on the field with only 2 rocks and got 3 kills and no deaths - 50
10.  Get a kill off a spin move. - 35

I'll probably come up with more later.
12  Gear / Weapons & Armor / My New PD Toy! on: July 17, 2010, 09:05:46 pm
I have a new toy.  Thoughts?

13  General / Dagorhir Discussion and Announcements / Event Game! on: June 24, 2010, 12:49:06 pm
Ok so I've decided to invent new games rather than weapons, as the few small scale games I've played at my home have been fun (according to the players not me).  Oh, and it has a little bit of a backstory to go along with it.

You are a member of the Thieves Guild that has been hired by a government official to steal messages about a conspiracy to have him assassinated.  It is now up to you to save this government official!

Name:  Thieving Messengers.

How to play:

1.   Everyone who plays is given a ribbon.
2.   This Ribbon must be worn in plain sight with a couple inches hanging out (Such as on a belt).
3.   You must steal everyone else’s ribbons, and the person who has the most ribbons when time’s out is the winner.
4.   To take someone else’s ribbon you must be wearing yours.
5.   You may not go into someone else camp and take it.  You have to take it from the person.

How to steal:  There are a couple ways to take a ribbon.  You can just snatch it off of the person.  You can kill them and take it from the corpse, or anyway you can think of to gain them (as long as it keeps to Dagorhir’s Rules).

You have taken another person’s ribbon:  Once you have done this, you can keep it on yourself for whatever reason, or you can put it in your camp.  If your own ribbon is taken then you may wear one of your previously captured ribbons.

Your Ribbon is taken:  Don’t give up yet!  Give chase!  If you lose your ribbon to an opponent then you should try to get it back, by chasing them down and killing them.  If you’re unable to kill them then you lose, and are out of the game.

Winning the game is by having the most amounts of ribbons by the end of the game.

Are there any questions or comments or ideas you might have?
14  General / Dagorhir Discussion and Announcements / So what are you doing when you're not at Rag? on: June 16, 2010, 01:24:20 am
So i'm curious, what do you dagorhir people who aren't going to Rag doing?  I'll start.

1.  Getting my wisdom teeth pulled
2.  Keeping up with E3 (all sorts of great things coming out soon! [NEW TWISTED MEDAL!!!])
3.  Taking a trip to Texas to visit a friend
15  General / Dagorhir Discussion and Announcements / New game idea on: February 14, 2010, 05:17:53 pm
I call this game Save The Princess

In this game A king has put out tons of fliers saying that the princess has been captured (princess can also be an item instead of a person) and he would like the princess to be retrieved.   You and your party of 5 (5 people in total) must retrieve the princess.

Woods battle, any equipment allowed, Rez are not for teams of 5

There should be multiple teams of 5

There shall be a team of people who should outnumber all the teams of 5, they hold the princess.  There job is to keep possession of the princess at the end of the time limit (about 60 minutes).  They must also hunt down the teams of 5.  Rez point will be a bit away from the battle field.

As the team of 5 if you capture the princess you must return it to the kingdom (Predetermined spot).  The Princess is allowed to fight, but if killed is brought to the killers team.

If a team of 5 is in control of the princess at the end of time, then play is continued until the mass amount of people team controls princess.

Any questions, comments, or praise?
16  General / Dagorhir Discussion and Announcements / Cid's making a change on: February 09, 2010, 01:40:55 pm
I've found a tutor for dagohir, someone who's been playing this for a long time and teaching me about making better weapons, fighting better, and the history of Dag.
Thing is he doesn't fight Q-stick so I'll be learning sword and board (probably mid-sized sheild with a 40" blade) along with dual weilding (axe and sword), OH and dagger+rocks, always carry dagger and rocks.
Anyways i'll no longer be using a Q-stick (AS MUCH!) I'm not saying that any of the combo's i'll be using are better but they are what I shall be taught.
If anyone wants pointers on Q-stick, i'll still let you know, just won't be my main weapon.

(P.S. Dudley [or however you spell your name] the duel is still on at ides long as you're up to it)
17  General / Dagorhir Discussion and Announcements / 1 Year of Dagorhir on: January 30, 2010, 07:49:46 pm
As of today, it's been (give or take) a year since I've started playing Dagorhir.

I started playing for a few reasons.
1.  I've always love medieval things including warfare
2.  I was looking for a hobby and this would be something fun for me to do with my spare time that didn't include sitting in front of a screen
3.  My Girlfriend of 3 and 1/2 years had recently dumped me and I needed something to take my mind off of her (somewhat includes how I acted for the first couple months)

In that time I've learned that ever though I can beat my friend with plastic lightsabers doesn't mean I am one of the best "sword" fighters ever.
I have learned that even though someone may not agree with me, doesn't make them stupid and a loser.
I learned That not everybody reads 8-bit theater, and like the idea of sword-chucks.
I've learned that arguing about how efficient a weapon is, is worst then beating someone with said weapon.
I've learned the BH is the better fighter, and Leo is the better talker
I've learned that even though someone might lecture you, doesn't mean they won't help to teach you to make awesome looking gear
I've learned that with age and experience, do come wisdom
I've learned that while I might amuse some people I will irritate others
I've learned that there are really over 1000 things to show that you are addicted to dagorhir
I've learned that Dagorhir will really help you with people skills in life
I've learned that oversized weapons really are not that useful, and that if a weapon feels more like a kite then a sword when you swing it.  You need to make a new one.
I've learned how to make a sword chuck
I've learned rocks are overpowered weapons and probably the most easy to use
and I've learned how to tolerate people who even though they might irritate me, I might of been at one time like them, and should still tolerate and listen to them.

So after your first year or so of Dagorhir.  What did you learn?
18  Gear / Weapons & Armor / Possible Video Game Weapons (few pics) on: January 03, 2010, 11:29:30 pm
As an idea person I've thought of a few VideoGame weapons that could actually work for the people who want to make a weapon from a game they like.  Here are some ideas:

Ragnell (Fire Emblem)

Master Sword (Legend of Zelda)

Soldier second class's sword on the left (Crisis Core)

Genesis's sword (Crisis Core)

Excalibur (Final Fantasy I)

Arbitrator (Radiata Stories)

Thoughts?

Please feel free to add on to this.  To help all of the people out there who want video game weapons as their gear.
19  Gear / Weapons & Armor / How much would I need? on: December 21, 2009, 11:22:07 pm
I'm planning on going down to visit a friend for awhile.  I'm going to put about 2-3 blue mats (pre cut) in my suitcase for use to foam smith out there.  How much rolls of double sided duct tape would I (estimated) need for 2 swords, and 2 shield that has a diameter of around 2ft?
20  Gear / Garb & Equipment / Clip question on: November 17, 2009, 10:54:57 am
I have an idea that would be able to hold almost all my equipment (not at once) in a very simple way.  I would wear a belt (from shoulder to hip) and slid a clip on to it.  I could then pull or put any weapon from (/to) it.  My question is this so mundane i would not be able to use it on the field? (might add a picture later im at school now so i can't get into images.)
21  Gear / Garb & Equipment / Archers glove on: November 06, 2009, 05:29:20 pm
is the use of an archers glove legal or is it to mundane
here is what one looks like
22  Gear / Weapons & Armor / Alternative's to dap on: October 07, 2009, 07:49:55 am
I'm starting up a dagorhir club at my school, but i have a feeling the school board does not want us to be using dap, are there any alternatives that would work as well or almost as well as dap (and dont say the green dap)?
23  General / Dagorhir Discussion and Announcements / Cid's first historical weapon idea!!! on: October 03, 2009, 06:33:13 pm
Ok so ive done some reseach on this weapon, called fire and wind wheel. It is like a large melee chakram (sharp metal disks worn like braclets and flung off your arm to cut off your opponent head or such) I'm looking at making them about 20" in diameter instead of 15" so that it's not as much of a punch dagger, and i would make it so that it is not stabbing. Would anyone have a problem with these on the field and if so why?

(here is where you can get some more info http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wind_and_fire_wheels) here are some pictures

24  General / Dagorhir Discussion and Announcements / Cid's new idea (settle down its a game) on: September 11, 2009, 06:29:42 pm
Ok this game has football roots (maybe rugby never played so cant say).
You need: A rock, A field, Players (6-15 on each side would be best), and 2 sets of markers (such as cones).
Setup:Set the cones apart from eachother, on opposite sides of the field and put a rock in the middle, and put and equal amount of players on both sides.
Game Play: When everyone is ready call lay on, have both sides go towards getting the rock. If your side has the rock you must either help defend the rock carryer or run with the rock as fast as you can to your opponents starting possition you may throw/kick/whatever the rock to move it along. Yes you make throw the rock at your oppoent and if it hits there head it kills them. If your team does not have the rock you will want to try to get the rock, to do this kill the rock bearer, you may also kill any other player. If you die you must go to the rez point (which is one of the cones on your side) the rez could be instant, timed (touching the rez points for so many seconds) or as soon as your team has the rock.
Scoring: to score you just have to be holding the rock as you enter the opponents starting area (behind the cones but still within them) you get a point each time this happens. When someone scores, the match starts over with the rock in the middle again. and the people at opposite sides.
Winning: first person to a set amount of points, or whoever has most when time runs out wins.

Any questions?
25  General / Dagorhir Discussion and Announcements / How'd you come up with your name? on: September 10, 2009, 06:39:12 pm
Ok im curious how did you guys come up with your names? I ask because i have a few people joining soon and im helping them come up with names, i do so by typing random letters like this:
dsabn which would be dasabin (dasa-bin) or something along those lines, thats how i came up with my name, i put Cid then typed random letters so it looked like this Cidhr which was refined to Cidahre (Cid-are), so i ask. How did you come up with your name?
26  General / Dagorhir Discussion and Announcements / Legal question? on: September 02, 2009, 11:30:57 am
I'm got an idea that would be fun but wanted to know first if it would be to dangerous therefor illegal. I want to build a rickshaw (sorry if i mispelt) of sorts, with 2 people pulling and room for to people to be in the back. I'm thinking something along the lines, of having 2 people pulling it using sheilds as walls to help defend them, and a spearmen and archer in the back. Would this violate any rules in any way shape or form and if so please explain.
27  Gear / Weapons & Armor / Cids new idea (not a weapon) on: August 29, 2009, 10:03:58 pm
i just figured out how to make of of the best core ever, Take a PVC pipe, and a round piece of wood slightly shorter and not as thick then the pvc, put gorrila glue all over the wood, and stick in the PVC, that way you have a long lasting core, that will probably not break easly, only question. Would i have to cover the wood in tape or since it has PVC covering it would i not have too?
also any questions/comments?

(picture below to help explain)
28  General / Dagorhir Discussion and Announcements / How do you recruit people? on: August 29, 2009, 11:52:28 am
ok other then the standard go play at a con. and hope someone joins. What do you guys do to recruit people to dagorhir. I shall start. I have made a bunch of business cards, and put them in either the take a card things, or i hand them out to people i think would be interested. Now what about you guys?
29  General / Dagorhir Discussion and Announcements / New dueling game idea on: August 23, 2009, 09:38:22 am
Ok this one is simple, you have 4 people, have 2 of them wearing blindfolds, using single blues (i say that for safety) and you have 2 people without blind folds one for each fighter so you have 2 teams, then take the 2 fighters, and have them start fighting using there other sences (being carful about head shots) while the 2 other people are acting as there eyes and giving them directions. questions?
30  General / Dagorhir Discussion and Announcements / The reason for a sword chuck. on: August 20, 2009, 09:02:27 pm
i have been asked, why a sword chuck, and since i am now that sword chuck guy, i decided to explain, there is a web comic i read, called 8-bit theater (ITS AWESOME) its based off the first FF in it is fighter (the warrior class also my avatar), he is my favorite character, and the character i relate to most (i'm a bit smarter), thing is he is stuck using swords, when he saw someone used a nunchuck, he thought, hey i like swords and that thing is awesome WHAT IF I COMBINE THEM (not a direct quote but you get the point) but he does not find a way to do so (for awhile at least), so there it is, someone later made a video for 8-bit theater using fighter here it is ([edit]: found one with subtitles http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qag0C2iRcdI&feature=related) any questions?
31  General / Dagorhir Discussion and Announcements / New game idea! on: August 18, 2009, 05:12:08 pm
I have a new game idea, for a "duel" inside another battle, its for 2 or more people, where the people who are playing start with no weapons, armor, or sheilds, and are against eachother, they must kill an opponent using said opponents weapon, and then go and kill the person they are playing this little game with. I just think it would be a fun way to make a game more exciting for the players. thoughts please, and if you need me to specify let me know
32  Gear / Weapons & Armor / Need a name for this style of weapon on: August 16, 2009, 05:26:58 pm

please pick a style name for this weapon (used it at practice today it was awesome)
33  Gear / Garb & Equipment / Leather color change? on: August 15, 2009, 11:05:03 pm
Ok im ordering some leather armor soon, but i want to put my emblem on it, how would one go about "painting it" im assuming its a little more complicated then just apply stencil and spray paint. So what do i do?
34  Gear / Weapons & Armor / Cid's new weapon idea AHHHHHHHH!!!!!!! on: August 13, 2009, 06:45:20 pm
ok this one i dont forsee anything being particularly wrong with the build of this BUT decided that i should hear what you guys thought first the weapon is a circle on a stick i origonally wanted to make the round weapons (used in soul caliber and dynasty warriors [one is much larger then the other]) but could not figure out how to get a pommel onto them so this is my next best idea.
I made this using the Paint program on my laptop.
35  Gear / Weapons & Armor / My new PD weapon on: August 05, 2009, 01:19:13 pm

picture in /img form thanks to Falkrix the Soulless
more pictures at http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=4433&id=1736337040&saved sorry i could not get a better hosting site, the camera seems to have a problem with this comp for anything other then the book of face.
Please constructive criticism, and praises about the weapon please.

36  Gear / Weapons & Armor / wrapping bamboo on: August 04, 2009, 04:41:31 pm
since bamboo is a type of wood i also have to wrap it in duct tape right?
37  Gear / Weapons & Armor / Another sheild idea on: August 03, 2009, 11:48:55 pm
I have come up with a sheild idea, for the archer (interestin ehh?) i have no intentions to make one unless i pick up archery, BUT would it be legal to make a sheild that has a "leg" on the back that you can stick onto the ground and have it to use for "cover" from other ranged people?
38  Gear / Weapons & Armor / part sword part axe idea. on: August 03, 2009, 05:14:59 pm
im thinking of making a weapon that is part sword part axe kinda like this except the weapon will be striking surface on both sides and the axe head will be on the top on both sides also, anyone see any reason this might not work?

oh and i think this weapon is called a kora.
39  Gear / Weapons & Armor / weapon shape on: July 22, 2009, 12:08:36 pm
Ive seen rocks shaped in special ways but what about things like clubs, i was thinking about making a weapon that looked like a big fish (probable around 5 feet long 6"-7" wide in some spots, this would not bother any rules right?
40  Gear / Garb & Equipment / Would garb that looks like this be legal?(has a bunch of pictures) on: July 20, 2009, 09:14:18 am

41  Gear / Garb & Equipment / scrub pants sewing question on: July 11, 2009, 08:13:46 pm
I got some scrub pants today, what i need to know is...
Do i need to sew the pockets up for them to be garb legal?
42  Gear / Weapons & Armor / First time with blue foam on: July 09, 2009, 10:30:46 pm
Hello everyone this is my first time using blue foam im making a red sword (to replace the one i had befor that broke) up till this time ive only ever used open cell foam, and the yellow camp mat that i found, I will also be using a 1" thick PVC that is 6 feet long, ive hear'd mixed things saying that 1" thick is to thick, ive also heard the its fine with bigger weapons, and that it also depends on the foam you use. So my question is this, should i wait till i have smaller PVC or should i be fine using it and the blue mat? (using sandwich design or should i go layers instead?)
43  General / Dagorhir Discussion and Announcements / Original emblem? on: July 05, 2009, 08:11:40 pm
Is this an original emblem? Hand drawn with pencil.
44  Gear / Weapons & Armor / Cross bow draw weight on: June 26, 2009, 10:02:49 pm
The rule for cross bows is that it can only have a draw weight of 15 lbs
(4.5.3.3. Crossbows must have a maximum draw weight when loaded of 15 pounds or less.)
im looking at buying a pistol cross bow the thing is it is 50lbs draw weight is there any way that i can lower the lb's on the cross bow to only 15lbs i looked though alot of ad's and saw 50 was the lowest amount cross bow users if you would step in here and tell me what you've done that'd be nice.
45  Gear / Garb & Equipment / Fraying a cloak on: June 26, 2009, 06:19:05 pm
Im looking at making a cloak for myself but i would like to fray the bottem with fire to give it that cool look to it anyone know a safe way to do this other then the simple stuff like dont use silk/satin/other highly flamable items. im thinking soaking the top of it a bit in water then lighting the bottem on fire any other suggestions?
46  Gear / Weapons & Armor / Would this be legal? on: June 26, 2009, 06:13:57 pm
I have a simple question would it be legal for me to hold a cross bow on my leg and another weapon like a quarterstaff or greatsword in my hands and then switch them out when i whenever i would like, or even 1 blue in one hand and a cross bow in the other?
47  General / Dagorhir Discussion and Announcements / Mystery material! on: June 24, 2009, 12:37:17 am
I found this pole and could not figure out what it is, its very sturdy but not made a metal it looks like PVC (around 1/2inch if even that have not measured) but the inside looks like the spray fiberglass (the kind you find on boats and planes and stuff like that) it's rough on the inside but very smooth on the outside. its not fragile at all. it bends very very little. it's slightly softer then metal it is about 6+feet long, ive hit it against walls and ground and it did not even splinter. I was hoping to use this to make a halberd. Would this be legal material and if so what is it?
48  General / Dagorhir Discussion and Announcements / Dagorhir rules quiz! on: June 14, 2009, 12:22:37 am

49  Fighting / General Fighting Discussion / A fun challenge! on: June 05, 2009, 07:27:46 pm
Here is a game more of a challenge then a game but none the less, its a race across a large field (ill make a text thing below to show) where on one side you have archers, on the other side are the racers. Archers shoot arrows at the racers as they are running across the field, if you are hit by an arrow you are dead, and may not run anymore first person across or whoever gets farthest wins.
Racers:are not allowed sheilds or armor, they are allowed one blue weapon to attempt to block/knock away incoming arrows.
Archers:may only shoot arrows, preferibly in rows at one time, preferibly just shooting in the area you think someone will be dont "aim" for one single person, of course this would have to be on an honor system.
