There is no fee for this day battle.

TROLL and weapons check opens at 9:30 am EST

Field battles begin at 11:30 am EST

More information regarding battle types and tournaments will be shared as the date approaches.

To re-state what I was getting at (I realize I sounded very Passive-Aggresive): Absolutely move forward with whatever your plans are. I was simply stating, be aware you are setting up within the territory of an established group, and that could prove somewhat limiting. We're willing to talk, negotiate, and work side-by-side with you. Feel free to contact me or others in Bloodpool.

Best of luck, Dagorhirrim!
3  General / New Dagorhir Members and Chapters / Re: Founding A Chapter (The Twilit Isles){Niles, MI} on: March 22, 2013, 10:22:35 am
Ward 3 is also incredibly close. I run a unit within Bloodpool, "The Union", which was created after the divide of the Coldguard, which is based at Indiana University South Bend, and covers SB, Mishawaka, and Granger. My unit is in Dowagiac, and based at Southwestern Michigan College. We've also been pulling fighters from Niles, and anyone who attends SMC from there has joined my unit. So, I hate to say it, but unless you're pulling from the highschool, I probably have most of the fighters from that area in my unit.

Seriously: This is my FAVORITE event of the year. Incredibly excited. My unit will be there!

Gave it a read, while taking a break from my Roman Warfare book at work! Haha! Good stuff, very interesting. Often, the auxilia is completely underplayed. Nice to see someone give them some of the credit that they deserved!
6  General / Roleplaying / Re: Corrupt a Wish on: August 25, 2012, 03:22:51 pm
Granted, but because they were free, they sell them for a profit, and don't acquire any gear.

I wish I had some new players in my unit.

(Apparently my headache was so bad last night, I couldn't type a complete sentence!)
7  General / Roleplaying / Re: Corrupt a Wish on: August 25, 2012, 12:36:50 am
Granted. But the litter sticks to them, and so does everything else. The world turns into Katamari Damacy.

I wish I some Tylenol for my headache.
8  General / Dagorhir Discussion and Announcements / Re: Where would you like to fight? on: August 23, 2012, 01:10:56 pm
Honestly, I would love to have a beach battle. I live on a beach, and I jog up an down the shore regularly for exercise, blasting my Dagorhir playlist, and all I can think about is how cool a beach-event would be. Throw in amphibious assaults, fortified positions- whatever. It would just be awesome scenery and an interesting terrain factor.
9  General / New Dagorhir Members and Chapters / Looking for New Members... Northern Indiana/Southern Michigan on: August 22, 2012, 10:57:42 am
Hi folks!

I run a small unit in the northern Indiana/southern Michigan area, known as the Coldguard. We are affiliated with the realm Bloodpool. I have been leading this unit for about a year and a half, and generally, with much success. Over the past half a year, I've been able to successfully field approximately 8-14 geared fighters on a regular basis. Unfortunately, my group is made entirely of people ages 18-21, and I'm sure we all know, that's a time of major change. After this year's usual "Back to school!" time, I've lost about the entire core of my unit to university changes and careers, and now my unit's practices consist of 3-4 people on a good day.

I'm looking for new fighters! If you're new, do not shy away from joining. Most of my career has been organizing newer players. My unit is highly active in the fall and spring, and we even manage to fight a fair deal in the winter (We love fighting in the cold weather and the snow ^_^). So if you're in the following areas, please feel free to contact me through this board: Granger, IN ; Mishawaka, IN; Goshen, IN (might be a bit of a drive, though) ; Niles, MI ; Dowagiac, MI ; Edwardsburg, MI ; Cassopolis, MI.

The unit is just located far enough away from Northern Steppes, Mittelmarch, and most of the reaches of other chapters and units in the region (We're in a pretty small zone that no one really has jurisdiction over), so if you're in one of those areas, please join us!

Thanks for taking the time to read this, and best of luck!
10  General / Roleplaying / Re: How did you come up with your character? on: June 08, 2012, 03:27:25 pm
Beyard was a character set in a fantasy world I had created, called Aerothos. The idea for the world came from a Warcraft III custom game I had created years ago, which gained a lot of popularity and a solid fan base (I believe my game is still for download on multiple gaming sites, but they're all the unbalanced old versions. Meh).

His continent is in a constant struggle between three factions: The Union, the Empire, and the Triad. Beyard was a soldier of Arathen, the leading nation in the Union. After his required tour of duty, he left the army and became an adventurer. During his time as an adventurer, war broke out between the Union and the Empire. Beyard aided the Union as a freelance mercenary, and in the final stages of the war, was readmitted into the Arathen military as a commanding officer on the Eastern front against the Empire.

I am currently working towards the garb set that I had always imagined for Beyard!

As of right now though, I only have fairly generic garb that isn't quite what I always had envisioned. Due to my deep historical interests, he is currently a historical character. He is an adventurer from Ireland during the 12th century. He often wanders the British Isles as a sell-sword, but has his sights on joining the Crusades.
11  General / New Dagorhir Members and Chapters / Re: New Members: Looking for a group? on: June 07, 2012, 11:38:27 am
Just throwing out a quick advertisement, for anyone browsing this board!:

After about a year and a half of solidifying a solid group, there is now a notable presence in the South Bend/Mishawaka, IN and Niles/Edwardsburg/Dowagiac, MI region!

Our unit is the Coldguard (you may have seen us at events hosted by Mittelmarch and Eryndor, we're the guys with blue paint streaked on our faces). We just recently were admitted into the realm Bloodpool. Our unit is growing very quickly! Our practices range from 8-16 fighters on the field typically, with new faces showing up every week. We welcome anyone, and we do our best to get our newer members geared and garbed as soon as possible.

If you're reading this post and live in the area or nearby, feel free to contact me!

Best of luck in all of your Dagorhir endeavors!
12  Fighting / General Fighting Discussion / Re: Punch Blocking on: May 24, 2012, 12:53:42 pm
Just my own personal opinion, not that I think many people care:

Punch-blocking = Dumb.

Gloves = Smart.

Just a few practices ago I had a few new players make it out. During the fight, I had my shield broken. I usually only wear a UFC glove on my sword-hand (don't worry, the logos are not visible), and I leave my shield-hand bare. One of the newer players, not having any sword control yet (but beginning to get the idea about being aggressive), blind-sided me and when I turned, I was about to receive a flat right in my face. I instinctively threw up my glove-less hand to shield my face, and fractured 3 of my knuckles.

Is punch-blocking dumb? Yeah. I won't complain if someone is doing it though, but I definitely would never suggest using it as a tactic (especially against a Red).

Is wearing a glove smart? Definitely. Accidents happen. And personally, I like using my fingers.

16  Events / Event-Related Announcements / Re: Eryndor Crossroads: The Orc Wars - July 29-31 (Adrian, MI) on: July 19, 2011, 09:33:31 pm
In response to Ymir:  Eryndor policy is generally 16 and up at events with a notorized waiver for the 16 and 17 year olds.

Sorry for my typo mistake. I meant to have that in there. And though I believe my question was already answered by Ymir, clarification would help. I'd hate to get up there with a minor, and hear differently than what was posted here.
17  Events / Event-Related Announcements / Re: Eryndor Crossroads: The Orc Wars on: July 19, 2011, 03:35:14 pm
One of my soldiers is only 17. So he ONLY needs a signed waiver? He does not need a guardian on site? And if he does, do you allow "temporary guardians" (21+, typically other players who will, of course, be there the duration of the event) to sign for 16-17 year olds?
18  General / Roleplaying / Re: Unusual questions to ask your character on: July 19, 2011, 12:11:50 pm
What does your character's sleeping area look like?
A nice, comfortable tent. A soft cot, with a table nearby with his favorite foods to eat during the late hours of the night. A stand with his armor being proudly displayed is on the far side of the tent, next to his cluster of personal belongings (which isn't much).

What's your character's favorite type of music?
Marcus spent his early childhood in Britannia. The music of the locals always left him humming their tunes when he was far away.

What's your character's favorite food?
Grapes, and all kinds of meat!

Does your character have any hobbies?
Whittling wood, exercising, and gambling in the local taverns.

What's your character's earliest memory?
Perhaps not his earliest memory, generally, but his most important memory of his early days, was seeing his father return from his service, highly decorated.

What is the name of your character's best friend?
Caius Servilius, Marcus's longtime friend and fellow soldier.

Has your character ever been in love?
He indeed was. But his woman left him, unable to bear the pain of his extended absences.

What was your character's favorite story growing up?
The story of how his father fought in Britannia to expand Roman rule, and settled down with a local maiden- Marcus's mother.

Does your character have any irrational fears?
Marcus is oddly afraid of dogs, having suffered an attack from a rabid dog as a child. If any were to show hostility towards Marcus nowadays, they would likely find themselves on the end of his sword.

Has your character ever had any pets?
None.

What's your character's favorite piece of clothing?
His Segmentata, passed down to him from his father.

Your character has a moderate amount of money with which they can purchase a luxury item. How does your character treat themself?
He uses the money to first repair any of his gear that is in need of repairing, and perhaps stocks up on a bit more extra food. The rest he spends gambling with the locals.

What are your character's religious beliefs, if any? Do they follow any practices?
Marcus follows the laws of the Roman gods. But words of a strange, new, single god have reached his ears...

Does your character have or observe any superstitions?
Marcus believes the the dead play an active role in the lives of others; whether that be showing them images of the future, or passing messages on to them.

Your character's age?
30. He is a very young to be in a command position, and is quickly rising through the ranks. What promising acts of bravery and skill can we expect from Marcus? Only time on the battlefield will tell.

Your character's goals?
To return to Rome a celebrated hero... And to perhaps use his glory to taunt his ex-lover.

20  General / Dagorhir Discussion and Announcements / Re: Portraying Established Characters on: July 09, 2011, 12:52:14 pm
NosirIdon'tlikeit. It may just be my own prejudice, but I think choosing to play an established character shows a lack of imagination and often serves as warning of a reality disconnect: "I'm so-and-so, who's really badass, so I must be really badass even though I'm a newbie."

You know how fanboys and fangirls scream in rage when the wrong actor/actress is picked to play a favorite character in a movie? You are probably even more miscast in the role, you're not likely much of an actor, and you have no highly-paid Hollywood fight choreographers, makeup artists, armorers, or costumers on your staff. Never mind the special effects. It's just not going to work.

On the other hand, if you're playing a nobody, you get to make your own story, your own reputation, your own style of doing things. It's all yours. You own it. If anyone does any admiring, you get to bask in it. It's a lot more rewarding to do your own thing.

I agree with all of this 100%. At the most, I'd find a acquaintance of the person excusable, or if it just isn't totally directed to the point of "I'm his/her son/daughter" or "I *AM* so-and-so". For example, say you wanted to be Julius Caesar. I wouldn't be him- I wouldn't be his son (or, since we all know we actually had one, the typical "other son who didn't really exist")- I probably wouldn't even be his bodyguard. But would I be a soldier who served under him? Sure! That way you still have your OWN identity, while still being able to connect to the figure that you admire.

People just need step outside the spotlight of taking the glory of a pre-determined character.
21  General / New Dagorhir Members and Chapters / Re: New player in Howard City,Michigan (West Central LP) on: July 07, 2011, 10:19:51 pm
Go to Eryndor's Crossroads: The Orc Wars event July 29th. I'll bet you'll find some guys who are closer than you think they are. You may not find a solid chapter group, but that doesn't mean you can't all practice on your own together! That's how I've made some of my best Dagorhir friends!

23  Gear / Garb & Equipment / Re: Arnor garb on: June 22, 2011, 05:41:56 pm

Honestly man, if you can't bring yourself to read the media your subject matter comes from, don't base your character on it.

Really, he's right. If you want to be based off of something, especially something of the caliber you are presenting, you should at least be willing to do the research.
24  Gear / Garb & Equipment / Re: Arnor garb on: June 22, 2011, 11:11:18 am
I would suggest perhaps building your persona off of something a little more... "indirect" then claiming to be the grandson of Aragorn. Say if you were to be in the 3rd age (I don't know how set you are to being in 4th, if that's what you were going for) you could be a member of the Grey Company. Since you never read the books, I would assume you have no idea who they are.

The Grey Company, led by Halbarad, a fellow Ranger of Aragorn, was a group of Dunedain (30 men) who traveled south to help Aragorn in his adventures (P. Jackson never put them in the movies [probably a good idea, to avoid clutter]).

With this, you could fulfill your idea of being close to a character that you greatly respect, without stepping all over everyone's idea of complete originality with the "I'm directly related" theme (in an area that you need more research on, at that). Try to be a little more original than the 10 year old who wants to BE the character. Be a supporting character- trust me, it's a lot more fun. You get A LOT LESS ridicule and you'll have more freedom to expand your persona.

Hope the persona-quest goes well! These folks can be a little rough on the edges sometimes, but they really are right on this one. Take their advice to heart.
25  Gear / Garb & Equipment / Re: New Persona; Taking Garb to the Next Level!; Roman theme. on: June 21, 2011, 10:40:35 pm
Thanks, Gnaeus! I'm definitely looking at padding. I'm sold on that specific Segmentata I posted above, and I heavily lack the skill to make my own. I'm not sure I'll be able to make the padding that those guys have, but I have a friend who could help me throw something together, or I'm sure that I could figure something a little more simple out.
26  Gear / Garb & Equipment / Re: New Persona; Taking Garb to the Next Level!; Roman theme. on: June 21, 2011, 07:38:19 pm
Assuming I measured correctly, I'm about 37" chest size. I'm only about 5'8" and I'm a rather slender guy, so I guess it seems about right.
27  Gear / Garb & Equipment / Re: New Persona; Taking Garb to the Next Level!; Roman theme. on: June 21, 2011, 06:09:00 pm
So I was looking at the armor as I was preparing to order it... Go figure, another hitch.

Will fit a 42-48 chest size. (Again, http://www.aurorahistoryboutique.com/Lorica-Segmenta-Stainless-Steel~R000493.cfm)

Are we thinking that they literally mean ONLY in that range, will it fit you?

Or that it can fit UP to that range.

Because I've looked at virtually every other Segmentata I can find, and they all give (approximately) the same measurements, but some will say "fits chest sizes UP to..." rather than giving a range.

I'd have to think that if it didn't mean "up to", someone would have to be selling Segmentata that fits smaller measurements. I realize that your average Roman soldiers have similar body-builds, but the Segmentata was rather adjustable and flexible. I can't imagine that 42-48 is the only size that can ever be used.

Could someone help me with this? (And I apologize if this is somehow a stupid question, but $300 is quite the investment, and I'd rather not waste it). If I'm looking at only the ones that say "up to", I'm either looking at non-stainless/and or/ very cheap and crappy armor. At that point, I'd say screw it.
28  Gear / Garb & Equipment / Re: New Persona; Taking Garb to the Next Level!; Roman theme. on: June 08, 2011, 09:09:40 pm
Stainless it is! Is the armor looking good as far as playability? It didn't give a gauge... but my guess is that its 18. If some of those cheaper and flimsier segmentata were 18, don't see how this wouldt be. But im no armor specialist.
29  Gear / Garb & Equipment / Re: New Persona; Taking Garb to the Next Level!; Roman theme. on: June 08, 2011, 07:31:03 pm
Hey guys! Pretty much got the garb all figured out after talking to people. But im still a bit stuck on the armor... One of my friends who is very chemistry-savvy suggested stainless steel armor. I picked up a Roman soldier manual book and it goes over segmentata care. It seems that stainless steel would be a hell lot easier to manage, and it would last longer. Am I correct in this? This is the set im looking at http://www.AuroraHistoryBoutique.com/Lorica-Segmenta-Stainless-Steel~R000493.cfm
the same segmentata is also available non-stainless on the site. Thoughts?
30  Fighting / General Fighting Discussion / Re: Forming Square on: June 06, 2011, 12:13:28 am
I'd say this is a great idea. I'm a fairly newer player compared to most of the lot, and when I hit my first event of 300-400some people, I really thought that stuff such as this would be happening. I was a little disappointed it wasn't. I think it does require a great deal of leadership. You would need someone who can give the command, and people won't doubt their judgment in making the call to do so. But I think Sir Magnus brings a VERY good point. One of the main things I started to notice in larger battles was that people were CONSTANTLY looking over their shoulders, worrying about if the guys beside or behind them were holding up. This obviously gives way to insane amounts of hesitation, and that slows everything down to an extreme. So I side with Sir Magnus. Leadership is important- but trust among the fighters themselves is the biggest part.

-- I for one, would totally take part in something like this, though.  ;)
31  Gear / Garb & Equipment / Re: New Persona; Taking Garb to the Next Level!; Roman theme. on: June 05, 2011, 09:02:59 pm
Thank you for taking the time to post all of that, Gnaeus! I'd love to speak with you more in-depth, so please feel free to add me on FB (Rob Nugent. The picture is of me fighting in a backyard.. Can't miss it).

As far as gear goes, I've actually made a great deal of progress since I first posted my "list of things to get", making arrangements with people I know, and finding items from different websites.

-- On the helmet, I'm thinking that just for now, I may skip that part, but I almost went for the Montefortino, actually. But I decided I wanted to look a little more generic-Roman instead  ;)

-- On the caligae, I decided I probably won't be purchasing any. I have a pair of sandals that (of course, minus the rubber soles), would look convincingly "okay" soles up; but with that said, I do all of my fighting in leather boots.

--I had no idea that armor was in need of such maintenance. I'll have to start looking at armor more closely, but thank you for making me aware of that! As far as chain, I've put it on before, and I must say that I'm no fan of wearing it.

-- For belts, this is a minute detail that I honestly won't care if I'm 0% period or not, but the link that Midnightwolf posted above is what I will probably be getting.

-- Tunics, I contacted a friend of mine (Siguric!) to make one for me. But I may pick up another for the sake of having a spare. As for uniformity, I probably will make my unit wear a standard red tunic. I know red wasn't constantly used, but it does give off the "Hey, look, a Roman!" when people see you in their peripheral vision.

As for units: Thank you for your input! I greatly appreciate you taking the time to share your knowledge with me. I do plan on running my group in a more "unified" way. My current unit that I run is very much so "Warriors" rather than "Soldiers". My guys can hold their own and fight well, but we're bogus when we fight as a group, and we all sort of go our own ways. This is one of the main things I want to change in my new group. I will make a red tunic the standard "minimum" wear for my members, but past that, I won't be harsh on whether or not they want armor, what accessories they want, etc etc. As far as weapons go, this is something I've really discussed with the guys making this unit with me. I think we really have decided that we'd like to use more uniform gear, and not have everyone doing their own thing. Not to say that we don't a few people with other weapons, but we'd like a "core" group that's similarly outfitted with the short sword, scutum, and javelin.

And in ANY game I play, whether it's soccer, hockey, football, or Dagorhir- I always remind my teammates to be good sports. You don't have to worry about that, my friend!  ;)

Thank you for all of the links! I've been brushing up on a lot of my Roman history lately, (though, I just took a break to read a new book I bought on Alexander the Great  :D) and I appreciate the help!

I look forward to speaking with you in the future! I'd love to run some of my ideas past you!
32  Gear / Garb & Equipment / Re: New Persona; Taking Garb to the Next Level!; Roman theme. on: June 04, 2011, 12:33:05 pm
Okay. I didn't know if that would fly or not. Because, you're right. They aren't giant cleats sticking out, and wouldn't do anymore damage than hard-soled boots. But I was just thinking along the "technical" lines.
I really like that belt though! I think I'll be getting that  :)  My main goal here, is really just to look half-way decent, and better than most people who wander onto the field. I'm not looking to be 100% period. Just to be better than my current state, and fit my theme that I want to build on the rest of my Dagorhir career.  ;)
Thanks, Midnightwolf!
33  Gear / Garb & Equipment / Re: New Persona; Taking Garb to the Next Level!; Roman theme. on: June 04, 2011, 11:38:50 am
@ Midnightwolf

Thanks for the links! I looked at Kultofathena when I thought I might have done Greek. I guess I forgot to look there for Roman! As far as the armor goes, that third one is the same piece I posted above, just for less. Thanks! I'll probably be getting that. I'm not sure about the belts though. Not to say I may not get them years from now, but those prices are a bit too steep.
On the Caligae though... I really want them. But they're a very old form of cleats. And if I remember right, cleats are illegal in Dag? I would have to think that safety has priority over historical accuracy. While I would like to have some historical accuracies to my garb- this is mainly for Dag, so playability does come first.
Thank you so much for the help though!  :D
34  Gear / Garb & Equipment / Re: New Persona; Taking Garb to the Next Level!; Roman theme. on: June 03, 2011, 11:53:14 pm
@ Angus:

Thanks! I think as far as armor goes, as long as it looks half-way decent and doesn't punch too big of a hole in my pocket, I may be content picking up whatever seems good. But I've been looking at that site and a few others, and I like what I see!
As far as joining Rome, I've really considered it. I already run a local group of about 15 active players, some of which will be joining me in my new town for college. The group I will be starting there with my unit-mates will be a little bit more of a group for the people on campus. I looked at Rome's rank system, and while I have zero problems with it, I don't think it's exactly how I'd like to run my group (mainly considering because of the estimated size). I'd be going for a very basic, minimal ranked group, but I want to make sure that it's a structure that works for us. But I'm willing to talk and see if anything can be figured out/we can team up with you sometime!
And thank you very much for the tunic advice. I'm going to be asking a friend of mine for help with the tunic, I think, and that bit helps what I'll be asking for.

@ Azriel

Other than that helmet I was looking at (which I'm now heavily doubting getting), I don't think I'll be doing much leather.  :-\
35  Gear / Garb & Equipment / Re: New Persona; Taking Garb to the Next Level!; Roman theme. on: June 03, 2011, 03:03:49 pm
@Sarus

I was definitely looking at Badassgarb, I was just a tad worried about if the tunic would look like they fit or not. But thank you for the input! One of my biggest reasons for really wanting to make sure I have a good tunic is for the heat. Most of my playing is in very hot weather, and my current Celtic garb that keeps me warm on a cold day is a bad move now that the weather is getting hot. Thanks!

@Svava

I actually will probably end up making a couple more things, but if anything, that will be to help garb my newer members and not myself. So thanks for the links! I'll keep them for future use!

Thanks for all the links, guys! Seems I still I have some browsing to do. Blackhawk, I've seen that website before, and it all looks very good! But everything is described as being styled as Saxon, Anglo-Saxon, Norman... could I special order one that isn't?  And as far as dealing with individuals; I would, but I know most deals work such as: "meet me at Rag and we'll exchange then!". Unfortunately, with my chaotic schedule, I can't make any deals to meet people to exchange. But thanks for all the links/help, guys! I really appreciate it!

Hehehe, thanks.  :D So what about the smaller pieces, such as the belt or the sandals? I feel like those would at least work, though. Sandals more than anything. I also have good boots from my current garb, but they're impossible to break in and I still get blisters. So im not totally on a loss for footwear, but the breathing space and lack of blisters could do me well.

I'll definitely check out that website. Thanks guys! Again, I'm sorry if this a bit noob-like. This is my first attempt at really upgrading my garb, and id love to get some advice (while showing you what I've been looking at).

And thank you very much, Magnus. Your comment about the helmets is the kind of stuff im looking out for.

I can understand your concern with my post, Hanzo. I know there's a lot of bogus threads with this stuff. I WILL be buying these things (and soon!). I have all the finances worked out and ready to go. I just want opinions from people who know their stuff before I spend this large amount of money. I'll be content with what I've posted, but i'd love some other thoughts and opinions! But this isn't a dreamer post.

Hey all! Been awhile since I've posted here lately, been out playing rather than sitting on the computer! So I've finally been playing by a good standard for quite some time now. I will soon be heading off to a new town for college (and luckily, with a few of my unit members!) and we decided that our new group would take on a Roman theme! I'm a big-time historian, and with the Romans being my main area of interest, I was ecstatic. I decided that with my historical interest and trying to take my garb to a higher level (and a few nice paychecks I received earlier!), I would be going for high-quality garb. I will be purchasing all of my garb this time around (My garb now has been acceptable, but I can't fathom ever making more... I'm terrible). I will also be leading my new Roman group, and I figured that I should set a good example with my garb. My main idea for this thread is to gather ideas for what I might be lacking and to find out what might not be worth getting. Here's what I'm looking at thus far!....

Torso: http://www.darkknightarmoury.com/p-870-roman-tunic.aspx

Feet: http://www.darkknightarmoury.com/p-5447-roman-sandals.aspx

Waist: http://www.darkknightarmoury.com/p-1287-roman-belt.aspx

Armor - Chest: http://www.darkknightarmoury.com/p-5632-roman-lorica-segmentata.aspx

As for a helmet, it's not my main priority, but I can't decide whether or not to get a steel helmet (would look more fitting, and a lower cost) or a leather helmet (comfortable?). The two I was looking at...

Steel Helmet: http://www.darkknightarmoury.com/p-5861-roman-helmet.aspx

Leather Helmet: http://www.darkknightarmoury.com/p-1278-roman-trooper-leather-helm.aspx

I will also have a Focale for my neck, but I will simply make that myself.

I'd appreciate any comments I could get for what I might be missing, what I do/don't need, etc. etc. As well that I'm buying good gear. I know that many of you know your garb, and one of main concerns is that I'm getting useful garb!

On a side note: Yes, I'm buying all of my gear from the same place. My friend has had much success with this supplier, and I'd rather keep shipping costs to a minimum.

On another side note: I often refrain from using the boards because of how hay-wired threads become. I'm posting this to help further my garb, and nothing else. Please refrain from arguing or posting negative comments!

(Also... I'm sleep-deprived after a long day of work. If something doesn't make sense, I can probably better explain myself after I get some sleep!).

Thank you very much for taking the time to look at this! I wish you all a good summer!

High school student, heading off to college next fall. Hoping to become a history professor someday!

Hit me up if you want to talk to someone else working toward the same goal. I'm five years ahead of you (half way there, now!), and have picked up a few tips along the way.

That'd be awesome! It's something I'm really interested in doing. For the longest time, I thought I was going to be a music major- but for some reason, music just can't bring me the joy that history does. Really, half of the reason I even began to take Dagorhir seriously was from a historical interest.

Feel free to email me and I can share some thoughts. Which period of history, if you have any idea (you don't have to, at this stage)?

That'd be awesome! I'd love to chat about it sometime! And my main interests are the Ancient Macedonians (but I also study the Greeks, Romans, Carthaginians, etc etc, the whole Mediterranean theater) and the Dark Ages. Deciding between those two is near impossible for me.

I can't take the ridiculous "actiony-action". Jumping away from explosions and going into slow-motion to avoid deathtraps is just something that immediately turns me off from a film. To be honest though, I gave up on the film industry a long while ago.

O's is a GREAT first event.

It's got a great social area, good fighting, and great hosts. I've been going since the first one, and never regret it.

We're really excited to be attending! We figured this would be a good first event, not only because it's close to us, but because of the size and structure. I'm excited to get my first, real look into Dagorhir! I've been practicing for this since last fall, so I'm ready to finally get out on the field!

So I'm officially coming to O's on Friday around opening, and I've got about 5-8 other guys coming with. We're all relatively new players (been practicing for awhile, but first event!), so we're pretty excited to be attending! Hope to meet you all there!
