1  General / Roleplaying / Re: The Estranged Wood on: August 09, 2012, 01:18:24 pm
looking a bit nervous "high mister creepy demon guy, how are you" pausing just long enough for a response continues "so what do we do just walk in.  I hear the rangers are quite pleasant to guests this time of year" Randern said this with much sarcasm
2  General / Roleplaying / Re: The Estranged Wood on: August 07, 2012, 12:58:15 am
"Yeah lets not let an ambush happen, you may be unable to be killed but last time i checked i was squishy and arrows tend to pierce squishy.  That tends to hurt, i dislike pain so conclusion avoid being ambushed" then glancing at Dralcos while shifting himself so he was in easier reach of his weapons, "Dralcos you really need to remember some people are just tall Dwarfs no powers no gods, blessing"

3  General / Roleplaying / Re: The Estranged Wood on: August 06, 2012, 12:06:35 am
Randern shook his head and prepared to walk "you know the running itsef wasn't bad it was the dodging of all of the damn trees"  Randern walked towards Dralcos and in a more serious tone inquired " So what is going on out here do you think"
4  General / Roleplaying / Re: The Estranged Wood on: August 05, 2012, 01:51:22 am
Randern standing a bit from Dralcos huffing and puffing missed almost everything his friend said, after a moment he stood up straight lifting his hands from his knees, and pulled a water skin out taking a long swig after looking at Dralcos and saying "What sorry wasn't listening was trying not to die, from lack of air"
5  General / Roleplaying / Re: The Estranged Wood on: July 14, 2012, 11:23:01 pm
Randern began jogging with Dralcos but seeing as he was large slow and could not run through trees he began to fall behind his friend.   So while dodging trees prickers and roots, and trying to keep track of a walking plant man Randern called ahead "Dralcos you know some of us can't run through trees and plants.  I for one have two run around them, oh and your quite hard to see"
6  General / Roleplaying / Re: The Estranged Wood on: June 15, 2012, 10:32:16 pm

Breadfruit is the best, it is just like bread but tastes like generic fruit, and it makes great sandwiches, adds a bit of flair.    but i will say taking one off a breadfruit ent is a terrible plan.
9  General / Roleplaying / Re: The Estranged Wood on: June 09, 2012, 09:44:58 am
Pretending not to get the joke Randern responded to the joke in a very dry "no actually that's a beach not a birch but, its okay i used to make up those names too"     then he waited a moment or two and then began to chuckle at Dralcos's reaction  "So how r we going to find what did the killing, and how are we going to handle it?"
10  General / Roleplaying / Re: The Estranged Wood on: June 09, 2012, 01:38:37 am
noticing the glance "what you think i had something to do with it?"he asked cautiously.  "well i didn't, all i'm doing out here is learning the way of the woods a bit better, seeing as my friends seem to be you, and rangers it seemed wise.  By the way what wood are we in?"
11  General / Roleplaying / Re: The Estranged Wood on: June 08, 2012, 12:34:35 am
Dralcos i would probably be safer with you and i would much prefer you didn't pummel me" randern chuckles and accepts the hand "so what do you mean blood was spilled?"    lets talk as we walk.
12  General / Roleplaying / Re: The Estranged Wood on: June 06, 2012, 11:51:10 pm
Aneo Randern realizing Dralcos ((ha i got it right this time :P)) was serious responded as fast as he could.  "It is Aneo Randern, we once traveled together towards this land. I am Currently lost and getting a weird vibe from the forest"  Randern stepped into sight making sure to keep his hands well away from his weapons as he lowered his hood to revel his face.

((as i said i am a dwarf now, i didn't like the whole part orc thing, and i'm more of a dwarf anyway but he still hides his face because he is a six foot tall dwarf and that is unusual so he hides his face so its harder to tell his lineage.))
13  General / Roleplaying / Re: The Estranged Wood on: June 06, 2012, 08:48:38 pm
As he appraoched the voices, suddenly the strange one sounded normal, it lost it's accent.      Then quite suddenly a shape came quickly in to the woods and shifted into a plant like thing, knowing only one person that could do that Aneo Randern called out For Draclos.
14  General / Roleplaying / Re: Roleplayers opinions/permission wanted on: June 06, 2012, 12:04:17 am
if you want you can toss me in Quick on me

i have a magic item that when activated one way is a bubble shield against all magics

the other way creates a dragon scale armor that hovers over me and takes the impact of a car going 35 before a physical attack could hit me,

other wise you can just use the stuff around the board, i figure my score is low.   oh i'm a 6 foot tall dwarf
15  General / Roleplaying / Re: The Estranged Wood on: June 05, 2012, 11:31:27 pm
(guys quick note same character different race, so if you've met him before yeah i'm a dwarf now ... with a glandular problem 6 ft tall)

Coming through the woods a six foot tall cloaked man with shield strapped to his back, and a sword and dagger strapped to his side was moving through the woods decently quite, but still making noise.  And up ahead he heard voices, and seeing as he was lost he began to move towards them, one voice sounded particularly odd with its weird accent.
16  General / Roleplaying / Re: How did you come up with your character? on: June 05, 2012, 11:15:42 pm
well i'm a six foot tall dwarf viking ranger.

Then name is based on my alt name for everything Aneo, and his second in command Randern

i am Dwarf in personalty i like to have good time, i'm loyal, and gruff at times, and am stubborn.  so i exaggerated the qualities

i have Norwegian heritage, and have always loved the viking era so viking

and ranger i love rangers connection to nature, their skill with bows and blades, and i love nature and think rangers look awesome

so Dwarf Viking Ranger, everything else is still in development
17  General / Rules rules rules / Re: Another armor issue on: June 03, 2012, 04:17:18 pm
quick note to the quivers and such not being armor.

i have a question if a my real sword hir your chainmail covered quiver, would it go through and kill you just because the item it hit was not specifically designed to be armor. the answer is no.   if it is of armor grade meaning we accept that our fake weapons cannot pass through this fake armor material in one hit then it is armor grade.  just because its a quiver doesa not mean your sword gets to pretend it doesnot exist, truly what is the differnce if it hits the leather platemail or the leather quiver its still the same material.
18  General / Rules rules rules / Re: Another armor issue on: June 01, 2012, 11:24:18 am
this game is originally based off of a fantasy novel.  Therefore fantasy armor, is allowed.

as you said there is no built in system to give monstrous races an advantage as there is in other games.  A dragon, which in any game with a built in system would be hard to kill due to its natural armor is no harder then anything else, a skeleton which would usually have a damage reduction based on the fact it is just bone and there for harder to kill the fleshy squishy stuff, has no built in advantage.    Orcs which are bigger and badder then your average guy get no built in advantage.

So masks are away in which the people portraying there favorite monstrous race can actual gain a property of the creature.  They have found a creative and good looking way to give the race they are playing the natural protection our game denies them, for the simplicity of the game, therefore i see no problem with the masks, because they either one are creating a natural armor a creature would have or are attempting to make a non monster look like one.

Hats who the fuch cares its on top of your head which means that arrow needs to hit the hat and only the hat to do nothing to you, so you as an archer have to arc your shot so it lands on top of there head for the armor to matter.  a hat literally gets rid of a quarter of the head, why is this an issue, it has no relevance to melee, and the amount of protection it provides to ranged is extremely minimal.     so from an armor stand point its a non issue. also those helmets above the chapels-de-fer look a lot like hats to me.

guys if you want a game where armor is actually realistic get a time machine, even the sca uses plastic for armor.      Its fantasy armor if you took the time to read/watch movies/play video games/card games/tabletop games that are based in fantasy you will run the gambit of armor, and different types different materials, and different looks.      yes magic is not written into the rules, but that does not mean armor should be based on the idea well some fantasy doesn't fit therefore we can remove anything.

Just because magic isn't written into the rules doesn't mean simulating it isn't allowed, if i want to be a magic user in Dag then my arrows are rays of fire, rocks are ice shards, my shield is a wall of force, my sword is enchanted (i used a light core and progressive build) to make it light and more deadly, and my javelins are lightning bolts, look i made a magic user.

Its called imagination.

And here is something if you want real armor, then you should also want real shields.      So you can use your REAL armor, REAL shields, and FOAM weapons.   that's right we play a game where FOAM weapons are the main tool, yet you want everything else to be real, why that makes no sense.   there is a reason we can use all foam shields its because we use all foam weapons, and there is a reason we can have armor which isn't quite real armor its because they aren't real weapons.    You talked about people having armor with no encumbrance, yet you use a weapon with nearly nothing in common with the real cousin of it, so if you can use a sword made of foam which is not weighted, balanced, or made out of material even resembling a real sword, why should the armor be made out completely real armor materials.

also  1 Safety 2 Playablity 3 Realism  because i believe you forgot the order.

"Whoa slow down, what about diner, and whats the cost of this room. Hell what if i want to stay more then one day."  Randern said this fast so as to get in a word with the abrupt woman.   " i'm willing to help if you need an extra hand."  Feeling the warmth he lowered his hood in a quick motion.

((man your not given me much to work off of here lol))

23  General / Roleplaying / Re: Winter's Coming in Ithilien on: December 20, 2011, 12:21:03 am
Aneo looked at the the woman who appeared frazzled, and had told him he should wait to get a room, and responded quickly. "do you need help you seem... um... frazzled. Maybe i could help you somehow."  He said this all in a very sincere and with obvious concern in his voice.
24  General / Roleplaying / Re: Winter's Coming in Ithilien on: December 12, 2011, 05:19:18 pm
Calling after the two rangers "i'm not messing with you i do know Rainen and his Wolf Svenrir and i would like a tour of town like you offered. Oh and what were your names again BASVA AND ...  WELL I'LL BE SURE TO LET YOUR RAINEN KNOW HOW YOU TREATED ME."  he continually raised his voice as the two rangers proceeded farther away.   He then took a second to look at his surroundings while he waited to see if the rangers would respond.  I think that place looks the most likely place to stay if these two don't help but its pretty shady, i'll have to watch my step., ((if the rangers don't respond and keep walking))  Randern muttered under his breath, "well shet guess its the Carrow's rest for me tonight" and he walks up pausing for a moment to examine the door, and then (goes in if it looks like that is how to respond) (knocks if that is how he should respond.
25  General / Roleplaying / Re: Winter's Coming in Ithilien on: December 11, 2011, 12:04:38 am
Randern knowing he should be careful but being in a good mode didn't care continued peacefully walking towards the rangers, with a smile on his face, which although was still hidden by the hood, could be seen( body language)  Yes, i'm serious, i have tried now three times to visit your famed home to learn from you, and to see its beauty.  I know Rainen because i have ridden on a boat with him and Svenrir, stumbled into a council of leaders where we ended up fighting together for a brief moment. then almost as if he was talking to himself "yeah that din't end so well when i asked to come back, but i did get two silvian arrow from it" then back to his normal talking "and i believe he saved my life once or twice.  Oh and Sven likes to yell in my head its quite annoying actually."  Aneo stopping about 4 feet away from the rangers then looks up and says to the ranger drawing his sword, how about that tour huh" all of this said in a lighthearted friendly way.  As he finishes the final sentence and stops he waves his hand as if to say you first.  He also raises his left hand to his neck to scratch his neck, leaving his hand near his amulet for a few moments while he is scratching his neck.  Randern made sure to keep his hands away from weapons through out all of this.  ((Rainen remember the amulet is magic, and since i'm expecting to get shot or stabbed here i'm ready to activate its physical shield don't worry i'll play it fair though))

((Bramble are you playing two characters in two different parts of the realm.   May i suggest that you pick one, seeing as your still new to RP (as am i) and event he veterans who have more then one charecter, are all in the same general location. ))
27  General / Roleplaying / Re: Winter's Coming in Ithilien on: December 09, 2011, 12:12:00 am
Aneo cocked his hooded head and said " Weeeelll i would like a tour of town so thank you for offering."  he said this as he began to walk toward the to men.  " then he stopped and said my acquantence is Rainen".
28  General / Roleplaying / Re: Winter's Coming in Ithilien on: December 08, 2011, 09:19:01 pm
The man reached the hold much quicker then he had realized, and mentally sighed in disappointing that he had exerted effort, and hastily traveled though such a beautiful place.   then looking down at the guards who asked him his intentions.

"Oh I am Aneo Randern, and i am a wanderer.  I have come to visit an acquaintance and to see your beautiful home.  I tried twice before, the first time i was new to the area and did not know any of your customs and i received a polite ithlieneas welcome.  In other words i got an arrow at my feet and not in my face.   The second i had a escort named Draclos the Swamp King, but before we made it he suddenly disappeared on some errand and i haven't seen him since.  So i figured when i heard the boundary was open that i could try one more time.  Although i will say i expected the guards to be a little more receptive and less gruff."  Aneo presented all of this information in a friendly and happy way, and used his hands to speak to.  He never took down his hood though.

Oh jeez this is ridiculous i'm never going to make it by night.  I guess i will have to speed up and see how far i can make it and then find someplace to bunk down for the night.    The man speeds up his pace, forcing his cloak to billow as he walks.

((really Rainen all of the walking for me lol ))
32  General / Roleplaying / Re: A chance meeting on: December 07, 2011, 07:08:23 pm
The next morning, Randern awoke still in pain and with some strange leaves laying on him, the talking shrub was nowhere in sight.  Randern went around and woke up all of the remaining members of the party and insisted that they get going.  Randern took the cart cargo and left with anyone who was still traveling on the mission and rode toward the keep.  He kept his bow at the ready and rode out.   There were some close calls along the way but the party arrived safely and delivered the goods, and then they used the cart to get out of the violent territory at top speed.  The all arrived in town.

(feel free to say if you went there and back with me, but i did take the cart and i'm in town with the cart now.)
33  General / Roleplaying / Re: Winter's Coming in Ithilien on: December 06, 2011, 09:29:52 pm
As The man walked through the snow, he watched  a hawk swoop down and capture a mouse in in talons.  This appeared to be the place of another hunt, that of one between a fox and a hare.  This would be a lovely place to sit and read for a while, ah but night will fall soon and i feel that having place to stay the night would feel better then reading.  I wonder what way i'm going i feel i'm headed east, so that means i'm coming from the west.  i think maybe , ah well who cares, i can see the hold it won't be long now.

(( we shall go with from the west))
35  General / Roleplaying / Re: Winter's Coming in Ithilien on: December 06, 2011, 12:37:23 am
A man standing a good six foot tall with broad shoulders, approached the woods of the Rangers, the name of which he could never figure out how to pronounce.  The man wore a hooded cloak (similar to Aragorn’s from LotR)  with the deep hood pulled far over his face, so it was lost in shadow.  On his back he carried a quiver about half full with some roughly made arrows (about ten, the will shoot straight but obviously made by an armature).  Beneath his long cloak which covers most of the front of him, he wore a black tunic, with blue gores and accents, rough traveling pants.  He had bracers on his arms, and thick leather, yet flexible leather breast plate lined with studs as his armor, and thick leather grieves on his shins, as armor.  HIs waist was home to a special pouch which held his magical book (when one story is finished the book becomes another changing size and shape sometimes) his Norse sword (38 inches long pommel to tip) with a slightly longer hilt then usual (just long enough for both hands) on his right side, and a fighting knife (similar to a seax, double edged 27 inches long) in a sheath behind his swords.  Around his neck he wears an amulet (is magic rainen I’ll give you details if you want) which is in the shape of a dragon wrapped around an owl.

If the skin could be seen he would look human, except there is something slightly off, and sometimes he looks almost greenish but not really. (it’s like a shimmer sometimes, almost as if his sweat is almost green but it is extremely extremely faint, as in most people don't pick up on it the just realize something is off)

As this man walks toward the edge of the forest he is casually strolling through the woods lost in thought, I know Rainen has said these woods are almost impossible to enter and, me and Draclos never actually entered because out of nowhere he had to go deal with a problem in his land.  Yet the boarders are supposed to be open right now so I should be fine, hopefully. I will say though wind may have bit of a bit to it but the snow is lovely. He continued strolling towards the Forrest.
36  General / Roleplaying / Re: A chance meeting on: November 29, 2011, 11:45:34 am
((because i didn't see it happen so i don't know where he came from, and there fore why i'm really annoyed that he is acting like top **** and he doesn't know us.))
37  General / Roleplaying / Re: A chance meeting on: November 29, 2011, 01:50:22 am
((no bramble that's not how this works, you can not dictate what happens to you and others and then not follow when someone else does it to you, you are either dead or incapacitated, i shot you in what ever spot would do that too by sheer luck.  so your whole last post is irrelevant and i would advise everyone else to ignore it, because you are severely over powered and not even role playing it well.  i have role played with draclos a god sent elemental and he manged to play nicely and fairly.  Also eye surgery = different from brain surgery.  you did not get eye surgery, if anything at least call it magic, and give it some downsides.    Your character seems to have no weakness, or draw backs yet he has a ton of ridiculous **** you are overpowered and need to learn that power doesn't equal good or enjoyable to associate with.  Now to give you the benefit i'll try one more thing.))

Randern took the moment when bramble was not focused on much to make a fire arrow using the fire in camp, oil from the cart and a piece of cloth from his shirt.   He then shot for the same sot he hit the first time, although he missed the exact spot he was within six inches toward center mass off of the mark.  "Get out of our camp Bramble, or stop acting all high and mighty."  Aneo yelled at the plant. Then under his breath said why is it i always meet plants."    then finally the strain was to much and Aneo passed out from the pain.
38  General / Roleplaying / Re: A chance meeting on: November 23, 2011, 07:34:25 pm
"Jack, we were paid to complete a job i'm afraid we must, it may go quicker with a ranger along.  and since a few of us are pretty injured, i beileve it best if we get this over and done with.  I for one will finish my job though seeing as i accepted it in good faith.  PLus we knew there were dangers on the way in we just didn't know a pompous talking shrub would burst into the scene. "

Randern was having a hard time a this point keeping his bow up, the strain on his muscles was beginning to be to much after the injury and the adrenaline was wearing off. So Aneo Randern was looking phsically in pain with gritted teeth
39  General / Roleplaying / Re: The Mad Man Games on: November 23, 2011, 07:26:27 pm
"Yeah well i saw no reason to kill him, he was unarmed and i had already won so... "   Aneo then walks to the mirrow and looks at himself seeing he loks much the same as usual decides to follow orders ad get some sleep, but after laying there for ten minutes realizes he never checked his weopons and he does a full inspection of his kit and , the lays back down and then he rolls over seeing himself in the mirror leaps to his feat ready6 to fit when he realizes that he almost attacked a mirror he turns the mirrow around so it won't happen again and he can get some sleep
40  General / Roleplaying / Re: A chance meeting on: November 22, 2011, 09:39:59 pm
Aneo still ready with his bow saw this wierd plant thing attack Rainen a person he knew and respected much better then the stuck up tree branch that was attacking him, so Aneo launched an arrow directly at the stupid over powered, snot nosed brat kid of a tree who doesn't realize overpowered doesn't equal good it equals lazy , kid.    ((and bramble to pull a note from your book, and since you haven't given us physical fatures))    it hit him directly in the ______ (( fill in weak point here such as heart, eye, brain))   knocking him to the ground either unconscous or dead.

"Damn i can't beileve i pulled that shot off, a once in alife time shot for me there."  Aneo chuckles and draws another arrow, and thinks he's nothing like the other man of nature i meant, i wonder what evr happened to Draclos he just kinda vanished

((everyone else forgive me for the post which was childish, Bramble its kinda what you sound like, and Deous as long as you don't over use your one power night vision is fine, but surgery really?))
41  General / Roleplaying / Re: A chance meeting on: November 16, 2011, 03:50:10 pm
Aneo watched in awe as Rainen seemed to not give a crap that an arrow was in it, and then he just pulled it out.  Randern though readied his bow again ready to help rainen with the shooting of anything that got to close.
42  General / Roleplaying / Re: A chance meeting on: November 15, 2011, 10:03:56 pm
Randern still g=hanging from sven's mouth fired an arrow in the direction of the archer who just shot Rainen as he yelled "Putt me down you big MUtt"   hearing a cry of alarm at the same time, randern was quite surprised he had manged to shoot semi acuratly.
43  General / Roleplaying / Re: The Mad Man Games on: November 15, 2011, 10:37:10 am
((opps sorry))

Aneo looked around the room and asked out loud "what the hell was that all about?"  he then turns and walks back through the doors he came through to find out what happens next.
44  General / Roleplaying / Re: Killer on: November 13, 2011, 01:28:20 pm
I wake up in a cell with a pounding head ache and just lie there trying to figure out what happened after, a few moments though i get up.  i search the room and then search myself.  I realize they have taken my book.  "WHAT THE HELL ITS A BOOK WHY WAS IT NECESSARY TO TAKE THAAAAAAAATT?!!!!!!" i yell as i'm pounding on the door.( gets really bored with out his book).   Aneo Randern then sat down beneath the window pulled his cloak hood over his head, and began to day dream/ sleep occasional shifting positions.
45  General / Roleplaying / Re: A chance meeting on: November 13, 2011, 01:19:30 pm
Aneo being lifted by Sven quickly grabbed at his sword belt laying next to him just managing to grab it.  "Whoa there Sven what are you doing"  then after half a moment :let me down at the cart. so a can get my bow"  this was all said threw gritted teeth because when someones ribs are bruised slash broken it is not fun to have all of ones weight suspended on them.

((oh and so we get this out of the way.  Aneo Randern wears a hooded cloak most of the time, thick studded leather tunic type armor (not sure or its name  just picture a sleeve less tunic made of thick leather and covered in studs) he has a bracer on each arm, vambrances, a viking stile sword, and a fighting knife (i'm thinking dirk)  and a small hidden dagger, around his neck he wears a magical amulet.  He know also carries a poorly made bow and a quiver of arrows.  He is around 6,1 with scruffy hair and a scraggly beard.  (haven't decided on a race yet so he looks mostly human.)  the amulet has the symbol of a dragon wrapped around an owl. if the dragon is activated any attack against the user will be intercepted by a transparent blue scale, which will stop cutting power, and cushion a blow.  this means brute strength can still hurt the user it just takes alot more strength to do normal damage.  The owl creates an avatar of an owl around the user which will protect from direct magic attacks again to a point, some will be strong enough to get throuhg but again will be severly weakened.  only one can be activated at a time, each individual one needs a day of recharge after use and the amulet as a whole needs 1 hour of recharge, the effects last four 30 minutes after activation unless dispelled early.))
46  General / Roleplaying / Re: A chance meeting on: November 11, 2011, 03:31:18 pm
after a few moments Aneo turns to rainen hey my nose ain't to good but i think i smell something funny, oh and has anyone seen goats.    Rainen one more thing what in the way of fighting can i do in this condition.
47  General / Roleplaying / Re: Serial Killer! (The Actual Game) on: November 11, 2011, 11:41:57 am
man i was right from almost square one, lol guess i should have pushed harder for cas, good job at being a better role player then i am man congrats :)
48  General / Roleplaying / Re: A chance meeting on: November 09, 2011, 10:57:51 pm
Randern put his bow down and removed his armor, with much pain and grimacing and show Rainen the wound.  "by the way i'm lucky I've had to fight you rangers before, it probably saved my life"
49  General / Roleplaying / Re: A chance meeting on: November 09, 2011, 08:22:12 pm
Hi rainen how are you, i'd be tthe one shot in the chest, i can wait treat her.

Randern who had been quite annoyed by almost getting crushed by jack and almost getting cut by thrud accidentily was still sitting in the cart when he heard a call for the side he wasnt looking at Aneo turned and drew back the sub par bow ready to shoot.

He then noticed the giant wolf and Jacks reaction to it, and lowered his bow slightly thinking.  Oh its that rainen guy i can't recall if he likes me or not, he does tend to shoot at me a bunch?     then he turned back to watching the road behind them , while still listening to there conversation
