In response to this thread: http://www.dagorhir.com/forums/index.php?topic=7709.0, which is a continuation of sorts from this thread http://www.dagorhir.com/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic&f=7&t=003982&p=2 and Lykos putting all the chapters/realms into a Google Earth file, I've decided to do the same with Google Maps. I've used all the information presented in Frothgar and Graymael's threads, but I would still like websites for realms /chapters/units. Also, gimme all your exact locations for where you hold your events at! I have Rag done, and Somerset, PA set, but I have address for it. And furthermore, if you give me you exact addresses for practices I'll put that up to so anyone interested can see where you practice at, and get directions from their house instantly. Also, if your realm is located in a different city than your unit/chapter let me know and I'll add you! I want this map to be very comprehensive, so I need everyone's help. Thanks guys, I can't wait to see this go live. Once that happens we can see the scale of how big and far reaching Dagorhir really is.
I'm also open to suggestions from anyone. For instance, my ladyfriend suggested making event locations different coloured ballons that realm locations.

Solusar,

You can find a large number of practices fields in my google earth file. A lot of people posted on that thread with exact spots. There are also a lot of event locations posted on it.

Can you make that map be able to be edited by others, so that people can go on it and add themselves in? That would save you some work over the years to let it grow on its own as we have people and new chapters add on.

Use my google earth file. It has everyone on it.

I don't have Google Earth, nor do I want to download and invest time in learning. I want to use Google Maps because it's free, extremely accessible by anyone and allows me many different options. For instance a realm (Aratari) is blue, while all of it's units on the map are green. This will show the central Aratari location as well as all of it's chapters and where they practice. It may not be in 3-D, but at least you can get exact driving directions with the click on one button and minimal typing.
I can allow other people to modify the map (right now IIchiro is the only one I gave access to) but I would really only let realm/chapter leaders do it (or everyone can relay info to me and I can do it).

Also, with each entry I want to have as much information available. The realm website, how to contact them, days they practice on their site etc. Information is knowledge, and knowing is half the battle!

As I said in my first post, I did look at it, and still am. However all the information I want isn't there, which is why I'm requesting it here. IE exact practice locations, event locations etc. Those aren't in Frothgar's thread.

Ah, that's why. We were referring to my thread on Google Earth. Many people have posted their exact practice locations in it.

I totally support a Google Maps page. I know many people do not have GE (Even though it is THE coolest program ever invented!).

Lykos, I was on the map last nite... Ithaca's summer site has the wrong addy I guess. I took that addy from the Washington County page where they had the park listed. I will have to dig out the number and call for the correct address and post it on here.

*sighs* I knew that it was too easy. (meaning i found the addy really quick, but didnt bother to check it cuz you would think that they would get it right. lol oh well, at leat the winter site is ok.)

I'll prolly just end up posting it here for you guys. I tend to forget things when I go to events. there's always ONE thing I ALWAYS forget, and the addy would prolly be it. LOL

I am just going on Google Earth and find it there. Lot less stress for me than staying on hold for an hour or more. They are really nice at the park office, it's just getting ahold of a real person instead of an automated system is the difficult part.

Hay Athron! I miss you too. And no worries about this, I stole the idea from someone else because it's so good. Thanks for giving me correct info on Downriver Eryndor.
To answer your question, I will be checking the boards regularly not only for fun but to look for new units/realms/chapters/events that I can add. And I've sent Iichiro an invite to collaborate (basically gives him access to edit anything on the map), and I can send out as many as I want to whoever I want, so this will ensure that it stays updated until the organization chooses to use another means. Adding people to help is a good idea too because this is such a huge project. I've only just started with what's up already, I have like 100 hours to put in still.

Ok, I was just on Google Earth and the Winter practice site for Ithaca is pointing it to a parking lot. Now, I got the address directly from the South Park web site, so I know it is correct. I will just have to look on G.E. and find the sites, them post where they are located at here. *sighs* Why does stuff like this always seem to happen to me?

As for Google Maps... it had quite a bit on it in the Tri-State area, so it was kinda confusing. I didn't know there was THAT much over here.

Lykos, I hope I did this correctly, I just don't have the patience to go thru the whole learning phase with this, so I just kinda winged it. I found both sites, and at the bottom of the map there were these numbers:

Winter site, South Park PA
