Just wanted to add a quick correction...

The Armies of Arkon as posted here and on the shirt was a typo... The new chapter hailing from the Detroit area is The Kingdom of Akron.

We were flattered to be officially recognised at Ragnarok, (as we were informed of being an official chapter during land grab), but I would like to correct things before we are well known by a name that is not our own...

There's also a whole stack of towns of that name, like This One. And places in Ontario, Cyprus or South Africa, and of course mountaintops in Greece that the name could come from.

Ok, so can I get some info on this realm south of me please, like an Email addy when it goes live? I had NO idea that Dag was even "in" down there with all the "other" games and what not.

Quick question...

All of these are new CHAPTERS? My understanding was that a chapter was over a large territory and was composed of smaller fighting units.

I'll give you an example, I live in Lexington, VA... and there are no units near-by. I've heard of a member of the Guard living in Roanoke (though they practice in Maryland) and that there was once a fighting unit in Lynchburg (can't find contact info on them). The nearest unit I was able to locate was Galatia in Richmond, VA (a unit of Aratari chapter). Since my group is small (under 20) we decided to start as a new unit within the Aratari Chapter. I've sent a few emails but not gotten any responses yet on the Aratari leadership. We're planning to visit a Galatia practice soon (with our new Dagorhir spec boffers and garb) and participate in the Aratari battles to gain 'active' voting status.

I don't think we would even consider launching as a chapter until after we saw how Aratari does it so we would have the proper experience to make it work right. If this is wrong and we should have started as a chapter, someone please help us out and explain the best method of playing Dagorhir for our area.

Yup, all these are new chapters. Some chapters cover wide swaths and encompass many units, with monthly or regular battles and local unit-based practices. Others are smaller, with one or so practices regularly and periodic bigger events, or they go to campouts and raid neighbors for their “big” battles. There’s no one way to do things, and what works for one group may not for another. As you look through the forums and at the things posted on the website, you’ll see that every chapter and unit has it’s own variation on things. And if they work, that’s all for the good.

You have the advantage of a large, very well established nearby regional chapter. So definitely go to the Galatia practices and even up to Gwynnedd, and to Aratari battles when they’re within a reasonable drive (since they rotate around the DC area). It really doesn’t matter whether you form a separate chapter down there in the Shenandoah or become a part of the Aratari as one or more units (or have members who join other Aratari units). It doesn’t matter because you’ll do more fighting locally at practices, and with nearby groups like Gwynnedd or the Gesteguiste (they were based around Springfield last I knew) or Galatia.

As Dagorhir continues to grow, it is likely that you may see more small locally based groups like yourselves popping up in Virginia, giving you more fun folks to fight with and against. Simply because you are there, you may help that process by getting a buddy in Harrisonburg to start his own practice there, etc.

So I was digging for future reference, and I see a realm from Lapne Oregon? Google maps doesn't recognize that as a real location, so I'm a little stuck in trying to map it's locale between Medford (way south) and Bremerton (near Seattle).

My brother lives in Idaho, but they're on the eastern Oregon border so I was trying to get some extra info

If anyone knows of what that's supposed to represent, hook me up? If it's -Lane- Oregon, that's different and I know exactly where that's at

Sorry for the (extremely) late response. I'm Cruven of Cath Cruaite, sorry I haven't gotten any emails or anything but I haven't been set up with an @dagorhir email yet even though I requested one. If you need any information on our chapter, including practice location and time, please visit http://cathcruaite.webs.com/ so far I'm the only member on the website because people are too lazy to use it. We're still rather small with only 6-8 regulars so we can't hold any real events yet but would like to meet up with other chapters in the area. Some of us will be at the renaissance festival this Saturday and will probably have a few of our weapons with us if you want to meet up.

*edit* Plans fell through for renaissance festival this Saturday so We'll be there on the 30th instead.

The scary thing is HOW MANY new applications were waiting to be entered into the record spreadsheet!

DBGA just approved me to buy a new, much larger fire safe for storing Dagorhir records. The old one is packed to the gills and I'm having to keep the latest stuff in my personal safe (which is pretty crowded too).

A journalism student who's working on an article about the local Dagorhir group asked me yesterday, "To what do you attribute the big influx of chapters in recent years?"

I hadn't realized how many new ones we'd had in just 365 days! Okay, 366 - it *is* a Leap Year.

Even given that a few groups have merged into existing chapters, and some chapters recently reported they've gone dormant...we still have a Metric Crapton of Chapters. More than 200 registered since 2002.

I have sent in emails to alricofdrentha@dagorhir.com for the last few weeks and have not recieved any reply. I would really like for Thrace to be added to the locations page on the Dagorhir website. Iowa has 2 active chapters right now but the information on Komodrum is innacurate. Westernesse is dead and Thrace still has not been listed. I am sorry if I am out of line here I really want Iowa Dagorhir to grow and the game as well. We have had our contract since May 2011 and we are hosting over 20 man practices sometimes twice a week. If you could help us we would greatly appreciate it. Thank you so much for your time.
