Female garb

My fellow female warriors I need some help. I am trying to think of the look I want in battle, but so far everything I like doesn't seem to be feesable. I like the idea of a dress but dont want to trip over it. Maybe if I tell you what my persona is then that might help. I am an elven princess who was kidnapped at a very young age, I'm talking about like a toddler would be. Raised by orcs to be used as a master weapon to desive their enemies. I want it to look like I am royalty but also work when fighting. Any thoughts and ideas or suggestions?

Apron dress!

Seriously, every girl I ever suggest a dress to always says "yeah, but I don't want to trip!"

I DO NOT TRIP IN MY GARB.

I fight in 3 full-length dresses and a full-length caftan in the winter.  It doesn't trip me up.  Actually, the heavier the skirts, the better they stay out of my way - that's part of the reason I use duck cloth rather than linen or something lightweight.  Skirts that are split from hem to thigh on each side are even worse - those things will wrap around your legs like tentacles and TRY to trip you, I swear! and yet, many many many dag men fight in those....go figure.

So yeah - Apron Dress.  It's functional for fighting, and simple to sew.  It laces up on the sides to show your figure.  You can dress it up any which way you like - one of the Warband members made the bridesmaid dresses for her wedding from the pattern, and I'll be making a wedding dress for another Warband member from the same design!
For under it, you can wear a simple tunic, or elongate the basic tunic design into a full-length dress - just be sure to add nice wide side-gores if you do, so you have plenty of legroom.  I prefer to have huge, spinny skirts, personally - they feel great to walk and run in, and they piss everyone off when their leg-shots keep missing because all they hit is dress ;)

Here's a pic of mine at the Aratari tourneys:

(this is the dress I made in the tutorial)

I saw that and I love it! The only reason why I say I'm afraid of tripping is because even not in a dress, I could be sanding still and start falling over. I have no idea why it is but it happens. But I am horrible with drawing any sort of pattern. Did you have a pattern you based it on or did you make the pattern? Because I can cut  a pattern and I know how to sew a little bit. lol!

Stellaria:
Did you read the tutorial?  I show how the pattern should be drawn out according to your own measurements on gridded patternmaking fabric (makes it really easy! 2 of my warband guys made apron dresses from the tutorial for their women for the wedding, and did a really good job with it.  I'm pretty sure that if they could do it, you can!)
