9 Yards of Fabric for a Kilt (Jari!)
Kromkar:
I remember multiple topics and discussions from awhile back about how 9 yards for a great kilt was extremely excessive. Can anyone provide input?
Twolf:
Not exactly an area of my expertise, but pleating is a great a way to use up a lot of fabric. I don't know whether 9 yards is considered excessive, though it may be. My estimation for fabric needed for a kilt would have been about 5 yards.
Sir Mirelle of Narnia:
A nice little site to give you info about a kilt.
Love and Care of The Great Kilt
Says three to six yards of full width fabric (54 to 60 inches wide.)
Heinz die BarBar:
For the kilt I am using, it says the amount of fabric needed is 9 yards. This is a website that would be making the kilt, and they say 9 yards. It is a traditional great kilt with a sash that can go around the shoulder or over the head. The reason they use 9 yards is because it is very durable and practically never breaks.
Syre Jari Kafghan the Dark Knight:
9 yards is way to much. even for a great kilt
