Fabric for kilt?
Huntsman:
Baring wool tartan, what's the best fabric to use for a kilt, and where can one go about getting it? I'm looking for something that's fairly heavy, (Long story) because my unit has decided that I need a heavier kilt.
Suggestions?
Sir Mirelle of Narnia:
Have they decided you need a heavier kilt cause it kicks up and shows your under things? Do you have a Sporran? That will help alot.
Huntsman:
No I don't currently have a sporran, but I'm working on it. Hopefully to be an addition before my next battle.
I personally just want something heavier, and a bit more durable, because after several practices, it's already starting to look very haggard, and is about to rip in a few places. This is probably due to the fact that I just went into walmart a few nights before my first battle, and bought the best looking plaid fabric I could find, not paying much attention to weight or durability of it. That and I didn't get quite enough of it, so it doesn't have as many pleats as I would like.
End story, I'm making another, better one, and am looking for fabric suggestions.
Hanzo of Narnia:
If your going for the long haul get wool, it will last longer, its durable, and water resistant.
Stellaria:
Wool twill or wool flannel. The lighter weight the better, especially for summer. I think Jari said his was 12oz wool flannel, that gets a bit hot in the summer. Twill will look more "polished", whereas the flannel will look a little more "homespun" and rustic.
Barring that, I've used bull denim and cotton twill before, too.
