Intresting, but none of you guys have the Boots that can throw poo at your enemies!

What's with the tabi-style stuff with the separated big toe?  Seems to be all over (not just in dag).  Does that give better traction or something?

Well the ninja style shoes as some put it doesnt mean you will be nimble like a ninja. But they do help you feel the ground. I have some from when I was taking ninjitsu, and I loved them. Not because I was training to be a ninja but the fact that i could feel ground beneath me better and could find better foot holdings on un-even ground. Not to mention they were as comfortable as hell to wear.

They are nice and flexible and give a good feel for the ground.  The Nike Free also have a similar feel.

As for split toes?  Gives a little extra foot flexibility, but really tabi have a split toe so you can wear zori, geta and waraji with them.

Ah, so basically the same as my kung fu slippers except you can wear sandals.  Do gotta say, the super thin flexy soles are awesome.  Now if only they would last longer than a week before wearing out...

Thw thin soled ones suck imo. It hurts to run around fast in them. I have tried 6 different pairs of tabis over the years and most do only last a few weeks of combat. My most recent ones though, the sweet ones with the air soles, have seen months of HEAVY combat and event mud and are babrely showing signs of wear. Tenkaralin.com is the shiz! A bit pricey but very fast shipping. Check mine out next practice spiderling.

Will do.  Of course, my ultimate preference still lies with going barefoot whenever possible.  Slightly more hazardous, but then my feet have survived mosh pits in sandals, so I should be ok.   ;D

Those air sole tabi - are those with the cushion in the heel?  I was debating getting those.  I got the lace up ones and picked up replacement insoles with good padding on the heel from Foot Locker and cut the toe split in them.

Sorry Halbrust. Any time I get a chance to talk about my pimpin boots I will lol. And yes Ichiro, those are the ones with the air soles in the heel. Omg they are like running in clouds. Even in thick brush or calf deep mud. Takashi is a very nice fellow, the maker. I put really nice gel insoles in mine. I plan on buying a pair of his tabi sneakers here soon. $120 price tag be damned. They are jusut too cool

The split toe tabi was popular for the Japanese military all the way through WW2.  Their effectiveness over regular boots is probably mostly suggestive, although I've heard the same things about it allowing better traction when attempting to climb things.

Never seen that super-fly biker style that Seiichiro-dono posted, though.  Where'd you find those things anyway?

Just googling around for "leather tabi" for some more water resistant options and saw those.  Dems are sexy.

Those are from www.Ayyawear.com. Very nice, very pricey. I want em, but I would never fight in them. Not for that kind of scratch.

I don't think I'd even wear them to an event.

Sure as hell would wear them around the office, though.

Having the big toe out is really great for quick pivots.

Takes getting used to but it's a noticeable difference from combat boots or my super New Balance.

Hello.  Sorry for stepping into unknown territory here - I'm a visitor from elsewhere, and wondered if Squire Lizard could help me to find a pair of the wonderful air sole tabis?  I can't see any on tenkaralin.com but not sure if they've stopped doing them or I'm looking in the wrong place.

Try not to necro threads from 2009.
If you want to ask a question like this, first, try Google.
Then if that doesn't work, post a well informed question as a new thread.
Tea= cancer and seisures    beer= good times and pasta salad

I was thinking the same thing Arzus, but I will be helpful. Unlike most on these boards...

Well it seems that Tenkaralin has went kaput. The site is down so not too surprising that you are having troubles. Try looking for Airjog 6 or 12. That is the product name, with the number being how many fasteners it has.
I looked them up and found a few sites selling them.
 http://store.japan-zone.com/marugo-air-jog-12-p-268.html is one for example.
Hope that helps spidermonkey, and yeah try not to necro old threads. It REALLY pisses in peoples cheerios...
