Ok my next project is going to be a punch shield. But i am having a small problem. This is how im going to make it and then you can give me any advice you might have.

2' wide x 3' tall
Made entirely out of Blue Camping Foam with DAP as my adhesive.
3" thick (6 layers)

The problem i am having is im not sure how to secure the handle without it falling out and coming apart.

I used grumio's method, it works goodly.  Gorilla glue is worth the investment.

Gorilla Glue on foam? I've seen that do bad things.

Become a fine powder and then fall apart. Although I didn't make the equipment myself, it was just given to me and they may have told me the wrong adhesive or I remember it wrong, but I could have sworn it was gorilla glue.

Did you add a little water to it? That sounds like what GG does when you apply it dry. When you add water, it turns into an expanding foam that dries hard.

I have used GG with and with-out water. I have also used Elmers Ultimate glue with and with-out water. They are nearly identical in properties and results. But Elmers Ultimate glue is less expensive.  Both need NEED N E E D  water. On an extremly humid day they work fine with no water, but why risk it, just mist it. Does not take much.

The best way I have found is a spray bottle on mist setting. Too cheap for that? Get a mouthfull and mist it out... nasty/gross/disgusting, but it works.

Also, using too much Gorrilla Glue or Elmer ultimate glue causes the catastophic collapse into powder. There is not enough solid surface for it to hold to and it just grinds itself in to nothing.

Heh... when I was routing out the axe blade to attach it to my core, I spit down it before putting the gorilla glue on the core and then proceeded to slide it into place... then threw it in my vice clamp.

So now when I hit you all with my axe, I'm beating your arse with my spit. ^_-

I don't know if they used gorilla glue, it was just given to me after they made it, I only use dap and super 77

I have never seen or tried that. How sturdy is blue foam like that?
   

I would recommend gorilla glue with square 1 x1 by 2ft tall piece of wood handle. The  square stock does not turn like a round wood stock or Pvc. Just round off where your handle is. Then use duct tape then grip tape over that. If you use your Shield offensively like me then I would recommend a 2 x2 square wood handle. I never had gorilla glue ever let go from my all foam shield. Even when I had to replace the handles when i break them.
