This is me and my friends idea to secure a handle for a coreless punch shield. i just wanted opinions. And please no posts about how we are noobs cause we arent. Just never made a punch before and securing the handle is the hardest part i would assume. Thanks everyone.

Running the fiberglass through the PVC will weaken it, and gluing it between layers will weaken the shield it's self because the two layers will try and pull apart from another when you're hit.

I'd just use the PVC and some gorilla glue. That's what's used in that video (which is VERY helpful, kudos to whoever made it).

Just secured my handle to my punch shield today using guidance from this tut. The Gorilla Glue is still drying, so I can't tell if it's super sturdy or not, but I have faith in it.

i watched the video before and only have a question. Since the one he made is a round and mine is going to be tall. Do i still put stop the PVC about 1 inch from the top and bottom? Cause that is a lot of PVC running up through it then. Just wondering.

1-2" should be fine for this.

Oh, and in your picture it says that the shield itself is 6 layers, calculated to be 3" thick. It's not, blue foam isn't exactly 1/2" thick. Just a "for your information" notification.

Mine is 5 layers and it came to ~3".

I just drilled a cabinet handle into my shield before i put on foam, and I used the tartarus invictus tutorial, havent had a problem yet

I made my shield like this.  The shield would probably fold/break in half before the handle came out or got loose.  Anything with that much gorilla glue ain't goin' anywhere.

Arrakis, I keep hearing about zip ties, but what do you do with them?  Just thread them through the layers of foam?

I'd reinforce the foam where the ties run through with some thin plastic or heavy paperboard, then add a layer of blue on the face at the very end right before covering the whole shebang.
