Prepare For War... Again!

Were you not able to make it to Rag this year? Weren't able to take your dog/cat/ferret/gerbil? Were you under 18 and could not go because you did not have a court appointed legal guardian? Do you just need a darn good excuse to fight in the months between Rag and Badon/Gates??

The Battle of Five Armies II is here for you!!

Friday July 30, Saturday July 31, and Sunday, August 1, 2010
Spring Valley Campground
Cambridge, Ohio

Entry fee is still $20. Due to the high cost of campground fees, we can not give you a discount for "Saturday Only" people. We are working on a deal for a feast as well, and we will update you as that becomes available.

Bring your Unit, Bring Your Realm. Bring your Animals, Bring your Minors.

We had a fabulous turn out last year and I hope we can double it this year.

Nova at Maethodoron has been volunteered to run a night-life party this year so that we can have fun all night as well as fighting all day.

I will update the thread as more information becomes available. We should have a Pre-Reg available this year as we did last year coming soon!

This is official warning and a Head's Up! You MUST be in Minimum Garb to be allowed on the field. We will not have Garb Gates, but if you wander out with T-Shirt and Jeans on, you will be asked to sit down or go buy garb form one of our vendors.

Minimum Requirements are easy to do, and there are tons of tutorials.

Did you get in touch with the leaders of all the chapters that will be involved? Hopefully we can get things sorted faster this year since we have a kind of outline to follow now.

Are the chapters involved still going to be doing a battle each on Satruday? It went well last year.

And how is the castle? I hope that it was fixable. I think that this year we need to have some kind of troll guard so the mundanes dont do what they did last year. (not talking 24 hour, but at least till 2am or so friday and saturday)

The castle is standing in my backyard as we speak. The kids have been enjoying having a castle to play in. It is in good shape, with a few sections where the wood split on the side pieces.

For those who do not know, the old Ragnarok castle was vandalized at last year's BoFA and was completely ripped apart by someone in the middle of the night. My wife and I spent several hours on Sunday picking up the pieces and transporting them home. Like I said, it is in good shape now and looks good. We will have a castle again for BoFA II.

Each Chapter will host its own scenario again like last year, with a Final Battle of Five Armies at the end, So there will be six major battles through the day Saturday. Last year we also had a Woods Battle on Friday.

Looking forward to having this be even bigger and better than last year!

Good to know the castle is still kicking!

I think for the final battle, we may want to rethink things a bit. Last year seemed to be somewhat... confusing for people. I think we should make it clear (if we use the same senerio as last year) that the woods are off limits for hiding the flags.

Age limit will be 16 to fight. Anyone under 16 is welcome to attend, just won't be allowed to fight on the main field. They can spar on the sidelines if they want though.

Yeah... The final scenario will be better explained next year. When I said there was no edge of the world, I didn't mean it is OK to run off onto Militia hill and try to hide flags in the campsites.

Under 16 can also fight on Friday and Saturday evenings if there are others who want to fight with you. That's what happened last year and the young ones got a lot of tips from fighters, and they felt involved, which is wonderful! I know it's hard for the younger crown to go to events like this and not be allowed to fight. This gives them practice for when the can join in. The fighters were really nice to the kids and I know I didn't say thanks last year, I will say it now (for last year and this year as well) Thank you! (my son was only 15, and he picked up a bunch of tips from some of the vets. he's looking forward to being more involved this year, as is his brother)

And Lykos, just so everyone knows who is hosting this, can you please list the chapters. I can only remember 4, sorry.

It was my first event last year.. and i think i will continue to carry it on as like a personal tradition to make it each year.
It was a blast!... I look forward to it this year... eventhough GFT is no longer standing.

I had a lot of fun helping out at the Fighter's Academy last year, but I have not heard if Magnus has any plans to do this again. Unfortunately, we did not have near as many attendees as we should have had last year. Perhaps it is not financially possible to do it again this year?

Since the last one was held in May, and it is almost May now, I am not sure it is happening again. If he does want to hold it, I would be more than happy to facilitate the discussions between Organizers and Spring Valley again.

But hey... How about that BoFA II??!! :-D Looking forward to having you come out, Dargknock.

It looks like we will be having a Weaving class/demo at BoFA II this year. Several have expressed an interest in sitting and learning together. We will prolly try to aim for Friday evening (Once Troll slows down enough) under the pavilion.

Table looms, spinning thingies, and card weaving warp boards will be present and discussed.

This is not so much a class as like-minded people coming together to discuss techniques and talk shop.
