I graduated and moved down to Pittsburgh. So not likely to make it up to Maeth practices. I should be able to make Winter Invasion and possibly a day event if you guys are still doing the bi-monthlies. I'm looking at being able to make Baden. Of course I haven't really held a weapon since I broke my ankle so more realistically I should start planning to make it to Angaron practices.

Is there any kitesbar that can be used as a core for a 6-foot mini-glaive without insta-snapping?

I was looking at the FL-745 (.745” OD .670” ID), even though that core only comes in at 5 ft. 5 in.  Any opinions on people that know this stuff?  I tend to swing particularly hard and "through" people when I'm using a red, could this core handle that?

Anything larger and the weight is approaching the core of a bandshoppe pole anyway, and a bandshoppe pole is cheaper.

Goodwind is the only place where I would suggest ordering Kitespar. I know multiple people who have found somewhere cheaper, but are very disgruntled when they realize they got what they paid for. Goodwind is the only place I recommend ordering from.

Glaum made a 7' spear out of banshoppe pole, and its so incredibly light... Maybe that would work for your glaive too? I honestly don't know how kitespar would holdup in a glaive. I know we snap the hollow core in blues, and they are only ~30-40 inches, max. The thicker dimensions would obviously help, but I can't speak from experience on the matter. Trial and error time! lol

Some guy at Ragnarok two years ago made a red out of .606" kitespar, and filled the entire thing with Gorilla Glue.  It was still light as hell and evidently very very strong.

Maybe try that?

Someone over on the Bel boards posted about a red he made from .75 kitespar, I believe. He said it broke pretty quickly.

Do you really want anything lighter than bandshoppe for a 6' red? Bandshoppe would get my vote.

Spastic of Dragonhood has these very on point solid carbon cores. They will do what you want.

Its more about having a light core so I can counterweight the weapon precisely on my own terms.  My 6 ft. red is about 54 ounces, and that's just about right -- I can swing plenty hard to make shields shatter but still throw quick one-handed leg snipes.

Thanks, Dudley, I saw those super cores and they're legit, but I'm too iffy on trying them for my use.

Thanks for other vet advice, I think that bandshoppe pole I already cut down is gonna be my homie afterall .  In the end, I like me an invinci-core.

Beware: Bandcore for 6-footers means lots of padding to soak up the utter inflexibility of the core.  Mine's 3/8 4#, 1/2" 2#, 1xblue, 3/8" Yoga and it's pretty mean at the top end of the power spectrum.
