Rome and Eryndor proudly present
Dagorhir Battle Games' premier Fall event

Badon Hill V will be
September 24-26, 2010
Pioneer Park Campground
273 Trent Road
Somerset, PA 15501

    As seen on Wreckreation Nation!

Autumn's cool winds bear forth the cruel men of the north in their long ships, inaugurating dark centuries of wolves and wind, winter and despair. Bright banners are raised on high, to flutter bravely before the onslaught of the north's dark fury. Knights and warriors, champions of renown rally under the banners of chieftains and kings, to unsheath glittering and remorseless steel. One last chance to wrest everlasting glory and fame in defense of hearth and home, or go down forever in appalling defeat against barbarism's insurmountable, surging tides of war.

Afterwards, will you listen to the bards sing tales of valor? Or will songs of your valor inspire enduring legends down through the ages?

King Arthur and his Knights of the Round Table stood bravely, earning immortality in legend, literature and song. Will you?

What was once the Aratari Fall Campout is now shared with all of Dagorhir, in the dark and foreboding iron hills of Angaron.

Join us for the biggest Dagorhir battles ever! (excepting Ragnarok!)
We anticipate an attendance of over 500!
We have a great lineup planned.
    Great innovations, great battle scenarios.
    Everyone wins.
    Everyone comes home a hero.

Kili, when I'm there, it rains.

-Blamed for the rain at Badon, the snow at Drentha post Christmas event, and the rain at Gates of Fire. And countless other rainstorms. Good luck getting up the muddy hill, cause as soon as I pull in to Somerset County, it pours.

I'd like to go, if I can make the event pay for itself... can anyone point me in the direction of who to contact about selling my wares there? Just handmade jewelry and the like, and maybe some chainmaille.

Or if it's just show up and set up, that'd be good to know too.

(If any other merchants would be interested in setting up a combined stall with me, please contact me on the Valinor message boards ( http://psuvalinor.proboards.com ). I'll happily spend a lot of my time running the stall.)

Begin whoring. Does anyone have the capacity to drive Vali and his girlfriend from Burtonsville (off route 198 in Maryland) to the event and home? You'd need to come down route 29 to reach the area, most likely.

Right there with ya Garret, gonna be my first event, may even have a couple of friends coming with me ^^

i see a $20 Troll fee, are there any other fees to be included?

food is obvious, but like camp sites? i work at a campground and know that the sites don't just pay for themselves XD

 . . .

 . . .

unless at these events they do which would be really cool lol

also, seeing as i have a 12+ ride ahead of me, could we get a site the night before then be there and ready for friday morning? or would that be a regular campsite cost and not the $15-20?

Just sign in, pay for the event, your campsite has now been paid for with the battle fee. Set up anywhere not already claimed. (I think...)

Troll fee does pay for your campsite. Just do not try to camp on someone else's site where they have been for the past few years.

Question that has undoubtedly been asked before:

What can non-Fighting parents do? According to the rules, a parent must be on-site at all times for the sake of responsibility. While I'm fighting, what can my parent do besides take pictures and watch the fight?

I see on the map that Loki posted that there is a fishing lake and mini-golf. But that only soaks up like 3 hours...

there is plenty more to do then just fighting... and don't let any Stickhead tell you otherwise.. just plan to do what you would normally do in a camping environment, just that you would do it in medieval style clothing.

Update from Brutus of Rome:

Badon is getting closer and closer and it's shaping up to be the biggest and best one yet!

I want to share some announcements:

On to the news, this year the site will open Friday morning at 10 or so and we will have pick up battles Friday afternoon. Unless you are a part of set up (Rome, Eryndor, Novi Antiqui, or a Merchant) please DO NOT show up before then.

Also, our beloved food vendors, Mama Rita and Co will not be able to attend this year. If you know of a similar business, with all appropriate licensing, please put them in touch with us ASAP. For now, everyone should plan to fend for themselves for food.

Finally, we are making a few changes to our line-up of events this year to pack in even more awesomeness. We will be adding a 2-man team tournament so everybody find a buddy and get ready, this will be one to remember! Also we will be creating a new public party space WAY in the back of the site. Hopefully this will allow us to drum and play a bit later then we normally do.

More updates and details coming soon! I can't wait to see you all there!

Cost will not Exceed $15, if the budget permits, we may go lower.

Wait, what? We can't be on-site before 10 AM FRIDAY?

This pretty much means that anyone traveling more than a few hours won't get to fight on Friday. Last year we started driving after work on Thursday night and got on-site at like 1 AM Friday. We can't do this again this year?

How did Badon go from what everyone seemed to think was a 4-day event this year to a Saturday day battle?

Well for the first few years Badon was just Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. People would fight in the lower area near the lake on Friday, and do the huge fighting up the hill on Saturday. Maybe something came up that made it so the event had to go back to it's old setup.

Latest update from Brutus of Rome:
------------------------------------------------
It's coming up fast! The biggest, best Badon Hill ever and it's only 8 days away!

I want to share a few announcements and changes we are making this year around.

First off, this year we will have hoodies for sale. We have a very limited number, so be sure to get yours right away. They are only $40 and feature some epic artwork by Maximus of Rome.

Next, this year we will be featuring a 2-man team tournament on Saturday evening after the main battle. This is totally free to enter and if you and your partner win we have some seriously cool prizes.

As an effort to maximize our party time we will be creating a public fire area in the back of the campsite. Hopefully then we can keep laughing, singing, and (hopefully) drumming past 11pm. The downside is that some camps that have been back there is the past may have to find new spots. You have been warned. Also those who have chosen campsites back there for the relative quiet may wish to reconsider.

Remember Saturday's Night Party is the Round Table revel. We ask that each unit bring something to the party to share, a favorite drink, food, or even performance. Of course, everyone is still welcome regardless, but it always feels better when you bring something to the Round Table!

We are still finalizing our budget, so I don't have a gate price yet. I can say it will not be more than $20 and we are doing our best to get it as low as possible. I will announce the final price next week.

Finally, a last reminder, please do not arrive before Friday morning if you aren't a part of the set up crew. Only Rome, Eryndor, Novi Antiqui, and merchants should arrive Thursday.

Thanks and I'm looking forward to sharing this epic adventure with you all!

BH- do we have an approximate location for this back party area? Is it gonna be back by the lake in Angaron/Raven's territory, or what?
