Maybe, but the rattan fighting aluminum armor I've seen has all been in the 12 gauge range. I figure it's because some hardsuit fighters can put tasty dents in 14-16 gauge mild steel. I'm tempted to go get a sheet of 16 ga aluminum and beat on it, just to see what happens, but I can't afford dropping that kind of money on something I only plan to destroy. I'd start with foam, move on to rattan, and then finally steel.
BTW, why are we still talking about aluminum?
