Ladies and Gentlemen, Elves and Orcs, and everyone else!
I'm am pleased to announce the dates for our
NINTH Gates of Summer hosted by Dominion of the Unconquered Sun. May 3rd through the 6th 2012 at our usual site in Holden MO.
We're going to keep all of our fan favorites, but we're going to add Saturday night fighting with the same light tower we used at War this year (And possibly Thursday night as well if they deliver it on the same day again!).
Our website at
www.unconsun.org will be updated with info and paypal registration soon.
I look forward to seeing you all there!
Updates!
Pre-reg is going to be $15, and a $20 fee at the door. Since the webteam is working on moving the entire Dominion site to another host, pre-reg is not yet available, but I wanted to throw out there that it is being worked on and will - with all hope and intention - be available by next weekend. Anyone who lives in the area can of course pre-reg in person at a Sunday Dominion practice, and we'll have an envoy of folks going to Freeze Your Flanks Off in Lyonesse to offer the opportunity to pre-reg there too. We will be offering day passes, if folks can't camp for any reason. They'll be $10 for Saturday only.
Troll times will be as follows:
Thursday Noon - 8pm
Friday 9am-8pm
Saturday 9am-5pm
If you're going to be arriving late on Thursday, please find someone from security with an orange armband and we can direct you to Nights Watch camp where you can alternately sign in. If you arrive too early on Friday or Saturday morning, we won't be able to open up troll before 9, so make some friends in line and hang out.

Speaking of security (courtesy patrol to some of you), I'm heading that up this year and I'm looking for volunteers! PM me (Krystal) and I can get you a schedule of timeslots so I can get people signed up. There will be a security meeting on Thursday before the first shifts start so we can go over some things, procedures and whatnot, and you'll be compensated in food for your time (hint hint)
Night battles are going to be making a comeback with the big lights we had last time, so Friday is a definite go - and if they're delivered early enough we might even do some night fighting on Thursday.
Tournaments! Right now, Shatterhaze is working on the tournament layout and I'm not 100% sure on when these are scheduled to take place; but they include
Spear
Florentine
Single Blue
Sword and Board
Four Horsemen
and outside of the Byzantium lead tournaments, there will also be a weekend long Assassins tournament hosted by Artemis of Dominion. If I can wrangle him to a keyboard, I'll see if I can't get any details posted on that here soon.
A courtesy reminder about a few rules updates. Garb rules are in effect (herp derp - of course. This is a Dagorhir function people!) and while the new rules regarding blues and such have not yet "officially" taken effect, we will not be failing any weapons that don't meet the old standards, but meet the new ones instead. If you need a refresher on the garb rules, check the MoA (
http://www.dagorhir.com/dagorhir/Rules.htm) or PM me with specifics and we can talk from there.
Weapons check will be similar to the past several years, where melee checked on Friday will not need to be re-checked on Saturday, and flight will need to be re-checked every day. Anything melee that was not checked Friday, or did not pass, will need to go through weapons check again on Saturday.
The party on Saturday is likely (read: 99.9999%) going to include a cover charge to handle the expenses. Expect to bring about $2.00 to get into the party and go to town. A whole lot cheaper than goin' to the bar folks!
I also have a list of vendors who will be coming to the event, and if you're interested in vending at Gates of Summer - contact either me or Fafnir and we can put you in contact with the head of the merchants for Gates.

Sarah Michelle Price will also be providing babysitting services for the parents that bring the kiddos out for the day. She'll have coloring books and games. She isn't asking a price per kids, but donations would be a really nice gesture.
No clean up dates have been announced yet as we're still ironing out the details with the land owners.
I think it's important that I mention there will be a memorial service held for Anna Stewart. The time hasn't been decided yet, but for anyone who's attended one of our events, Anna is the wife of Earl - the man who's been kind enough to let us host every single Gates of Summer and War of the Iron Fist on his property. She will be buried on the property, so we want to make sure everyone is aware of this so there's no unintentional disrespecting going on with the burial site. Right now I have no idea where it's located, or if it's marked in any special way.. but we're likely holding the memorial at that location so we can appropriately mark it off.
