Good news, all you Ides of March attendees!

Weather is looking like it's on our side once more this year. Forecast for Friday and Saturday is overcast with temperatures in the 60s and 70s. And no rain is predicited!

http://www.wunderground.com/cgi-bin/findweather/hdfForecast?query=Bowdon%2C+GA

I'm heading down to Good ol' Georgia for the fourth Ides of March of my Dagorhir career, and I'll be bringing three of my fellow Dagorhirrim in tow.

Looking forward to seeing all of you down there!

Well I guess we'll get there on Saturday instead of Thursday next year. We really had planned on the 10% rain chance and had no garb we could have fought in that wouldn't have been soaked, cold, and heavy in seconds.

We will not underestimate you again vile Georgia weather!

Ides was awesome. Half a day of fighting on thursday, sparring in the barn at night, and two full days of great fighting friday and saturday with no rain during the fighting. I believe it only rained thursday night. Sad to hear you drove that far and missed out on all the fighting. I think the final count for attendance was around  380!

Its March and you didn't bring anything warm to a 4 day camp out? Being from farther south or not, its early march and you were traveling north. Use your head.

The cold wasn't the problem. We've fought in mid 20s before in Indiana. Use your head.

Yeah we stuck around until about noon on Friday to see if it would let up but it didn't seem like it so we had to call it. Shame we missed the great fighting later on, we'll try to show up later next year.

Well now you know. Always plan on being wet. Fun stuff happens, even at rainy campouts. Go to the driest place and there will always be people to talk to and spar with.
One Badon Hill, we walked around from camp to camp the whole weekend with wool blankets draped over us like big cloaks, because people had borrowed our cloaks and didn't bring 'em back. We looked silly, but stayed comfortably dry....and it rained the WHOLE 4 DAYS that year.

Actually I took your advice from friday and we went to our local ren fair yesterday and all got wool cloaks. So bring on your sporadic northern weather! MUAHAHA! Yeah I guess we just got lucky with the other events we went to up north. It was almost always bright and sunny if not overcast without rain. Would that be overestimating how good of weather you guys have up there or underestimating the fickleness of your weather? XD

Hey, thanks to everyone involved in running this amazing event. It was my first time out in almost two years, and as a comeback event I couldn't have asked for a better one.

Great fighting all of you who were there. The weather was excellent, and even getting my car stuck in a mud-filled ditch at midnight on Thursday didn't put too much of a damper on my spirits.

Also I have like three or four abrasions, lacerations, or contusions on my face now. Facial injuries best injuries.

The final head count was 376, 108 more than last year and a new attendance record. The weather ended up being perfect for fighting.

Thanks to everyone that made it out and made Ides VI such a great event. Also a huge thanks to all of Albion for running weapons check and fighting their butts off in the Hounds of Hell battle.

And thanks to all those who stepped up and helped out, putting on a heralds tabbard, helping with casino night, running night life on Friday, and anything else that I missed. We, the High Spires, could not have put on this event without all of you.

Special thanks to Yinz, Angus, and all the High Spires for their service in running Ides VI!
Thanks to all the groups who traveled from near and far to beat each other senseless in the red Georgia clay.
All the fighting and nightlife was definitely in keeping with the tradition of Ides being an awesome event.

We are missing a leopard print cowboy hat with rhinestones on it, possibly left on the field after fighting on Saturday. Would really like to have it back.

That was great fun again! this is my second Ides, ive been to 2 other events, Ides IV and winter war.

@TinyTim: ever tried to cook steaks on a campfire in the pouring rain while shirtless and freezing from the wind which was putting out the fire? yeah the weather sucked but you still could have stayed!! we would've loved to have had you (and i'm sure red team would've liked the help and extra numbers for the gully battle :P)

saturday is always either the best if not the second best day of the WHOLE event  (i will never forget ruling the gluckhaus tables at Ides IV! >:D )

to be honest these past few months have to be the most PMS winter weather months ive EVER seen. adding to the montra "if you don't like the weather here, wait 5 minutes"

@dudley: you try calling dragon hills yet?

also congrats to the warriors from st louis who won the prize for the longest drive.
HEY, the rule was you must come find me. so i know some are saying I drove farther, but you didn't find me. I was walking around to all the camps , and fighting fri and  saturday.
I met many new warriors and units.. reunited with some old friends from years past.
Hope to do this again next year.
thanks High Spires and the staff at dragon hills

Yeah we stuck around until about noon on Friday to see if it would let up but it didn't seem like it so we had to call it. Shame we missed the great fighting later on, we'll try to show up later next year.

Ah, dude, you left like 20 minutes before the weather was perfect (if a little chilly at night) for the rest of the event.

Awesome event guys, thanks to everyone running it and the Dragon Hills camp staff for the amazing time.

HIGHLIGHTS:

The Tire/Sash Scenario was awesome, a perfect mix of meatgrinder and field fighting rolled up into a capture-the-flag scenario. The funniest part was Bel capping off the third win by walking unobstructed through the lines with the tire.

The Gully Battle is just a slugfest and I love it.

The Hell Hound Battle was phenomenal, it's the kind of intense fighting I find only at Ides. Highlight of that battle was probably bodychecking a guy off his feet into oblivion (out of bounds) when both my arms were pierced.

Casino Night/Pit Fighting is always a pleasure. Dudley's new addition of Mayan Football played out really well and I think it'll become a new Ides tradition.

Inducting Adeus and Brock into the Albion family still has me smiling. I know they'll do us proud.

Meeting all the new Florida fighters made my day, yall are bringing new energy into the rising tide that is southern foamfighting.

Ides of March is easily the best time I've had since I joined this sport. From the impromptu fighting on Thursday, to following Jari around in the Hounds of Hell Battle with two greened limbs saying mean things about his ancestry, to Running the crap out of the Blackjack table at Casino Night, I had fun every single moment of the weekend. Thanks to everybody who put forth time and effort to keep this event running. I'll see you next year.

Ides was fantastic as usual.
Great intense fighting, great attitudes, great people.

The only thing lacking was the feast in comparison to last year, but I can only assume that was because of the unexpectedly high turn out.
