catching a club
Odran:
Reading rule 3.3.6 as though it is assuming an unarmored hand would make sense for intentional blocks. However, for grabbing weapons, almost everyone would agree that an armored hand would be lost: doing otherwise would result in damaged weapons which in turn creates player safety issues. Rule 3.3.6 uses the same language for intentionally blocking with a hand-off-weapon & grabbing a blade.
Like Alric said, this is mainly an issue of poor wording.
Amadeaus Chisantrix:
My question, would it be legal for me to grip the non-striking edge of a single edged sword that I am wielding? I would do this for blocking and to change the point of leverage with a six foot red sword.
Gorbag:
Search halfsword Amadeus.
Varadin:
if you are wielding it you can touch it however you want with your hands. It will always be hand on weapon. If its against your body its anviling.
Amadeaus Chisantrix:
Thank you.
