Cailte an Croeb Ruad

Cailte, why are you using the Clan MacAisling motto?

Ancient oaths of comraderie.

But the MacAisling were never a friend to any Irish. Moreover, they are very much the enemy of the Dál Riata, having been forced to seek refuge among the Daoine Sidhe by their migrations. The dream we seek to protect is a dream of Caledonia free from any Irish or Christian influences.

(Note to any curious bystanders: "A gleigh an t-aisling! (To protect the Dream!)" is a fictional motto of the entirely fictional Clan MacAisling, which is all my own invention created circa 1984. I just noticed that Cailte has started using it in his signature line. I'm not saying he should stop, I just think he really ought to know where it is coming from.)

"To protect the dream" is a motto I began to use in the 80s as my persona is a cait sidhe sworn to service of the Tuatha De Danaan against the return of the Fomorians. I was perplexed when I found it in someone's signature on these boards and so changed my own signature ( A chosaint ar an aisling ) to how they had theirs out of mischievous curiosity. I find our use of a similar phrase, created around the same time period and for vaguely similar reasons rather amusing.

It's not that I don't know the "correct" spelling - I choose NOT to use that spelling in deference to the Cossack betrayal of Russia during WWII. Assuming lack of spelling knowledge only serves to illuminate your own ignorance. As a bit of "friendly" advice: if you have nothing even remotely substantial to contribute to a thread 'tis best simply not to post at all.  I am unsure what exactly you had intended, whether by some means to suggest I may somehow be inferior to you, a pitifully failed attempt at securing a place in the halls of trolls or merely an -ignored-in-jr.high/highschool Atoli complex need to toady to Foghnan  as a whimpering dog in need of a master I know not but in any case it is always in your best interest to take a moment conjugate your thoughts ere you tap the "post reply" button.

It wouldn't be homoerotic, as Athelas is a woman. Now you both have egg on your faces.

I thank you for succinctly alerting me to my faux pas. Post edited.

Wow! Sorry that someone (i.e.I) pissed in your Cheerios.
Perhaps next time you'll hold your bladder better. Apology accepted.

Sorry for the unnecessary slight. It was rude of me to post that. I stand corrected.

I've never had a toady before. You can try it if you like... I'll most likely kill you in the morning.

I shall now be known as toady of Foghnan. Quite proud to wear that title. Please do not kill me in the morning, I have minions that need breakfast.

I accept your apology and give you mine in return - "quick to anger, quick to forgive" does not lend itself well to tact. If I have offended you by my words, please accept my feelings of remorse.

It is the Internet. Makes fools of all of us at times. Perhaps we may share a refreshing beverage at some point and laugh about how we met :)

I would welcome that. ( if we haven't already met - years and faces become a blur after decades and many reds to the temple)

Not to seem rude, but back to the topic...

Seeing as you both coincidentally came up with SIMILAR mottos at the same time in different locations, and for the same reasons, I suggest you both have a pint, shake hands and let it stand. It won't affect the average player, and those it would affect should know the dif. If they don't, I've found proof against Evolution.
