I still think scantily clad women should always be allowed on the field. But that is also why I am not welcome at the garb gates.
I agree, but scantily clad women dressed appropriately (as in, lots of leather, fur and steel) are even sexier than gals in short skirts and sports bras.
regardless how toned, pretty, and shapely the woman may be, i react with nothing but revulsion to seeing sports bras. i find women sexier if they're covered collar bones to wrists and ankles than a woman in anything and a sports bra.
Thanks for pointing that one out Twinkle... I was going to ask about mine as well... but seeing as we are both elves who is to say what is period for us and what is not period... I will not dress in drab colors or boring material just because it is "not period" Elves have magic and can "make" their clothes look how they want to... That being said I do have a lot of garb that is in the batik style... Are you going to tell me that I can't wear that because it is in brighter colors??
the Garb Gates are not going to disallow bright colors [neons are disallowed by the MoA, Garb Gates will enforce that, not interpret it] or most fabrics aside from denim of any color and shiny spandex [bike shorts, underarmor, etc]. linen/cotton/wool/silk are NOT required at all. they're just highly recommended as they're more comfortable than synthetics.
[i would like to point out that leggings are specifically allowed by the MoA. i've seen girls told they shouldn't wear leggings under their skirts/wrap pants/tunics because "Leggings aren't garb." and i think i've said so myself. that is incorrect, leggings are listed as being allowed.
but use common sense rather than a loophole, they're still restricted to not-neon colors and not-entirely spandex. try to get the ones made of jersey or even with a knitted look. the more cotton/other natural fiber content they have, the more comfortable they will be.]

Per our stated rules, that is not garb since it is not crotch length.
my interpretation, and i think it's a logical one, is that the rule states fighters can be topless so long as legality allows and the pants/skirt/bottom garb including shoes comply with at least minimum garb rules.
the "only if exceptional" clause was removed at the last RWC.
when dealing with not-crotch-length garb tops, i apply the same rule. if Rap tried to wear one of his garb vests at hip-length rather than thigh/knee length it would look very odd and i'd mock him. i might disallow it if it looked mundane enough. but if the vest was cropped waist length or shorter, well then he looks like Aladdin and the look is believable so it would pass as long as his pants pass.
i apply the same rule of thumb to girls in choli tops or halter dance tops or cropped peasant blouses, or corsets.
a crotch length corset would be literally impossible to fight in. if it's cropped above the hips, and especially as high as the waist, she'll have some freedom of movement. if the corset looks medieval/medieval fantasy enough AND her skirt/pants and shoes pass as garb, she's good to go.
if her corset is obviously the latest rhinestone covered bile with garter straps swinging to come out of Victoria's Secret she can leave it on and fight, but only if she puts a tunic over it.
remember: We don't care about what we can't see.
though if you strip layers as you get hot, all of your underlayers have to pass garb rules, too.
