Frequently misused archaic words

Whisper Moonson:
As a public service, here's a place to check meanings before you start trying to sling around archaic words. Feel free to add words to the list.

For now, I'm only going to post one - probably the most misused archaic word of them all: "Sirrah." Folks see or hear this word and jump to the conclusion that it's a fancier version of "sir." Nothing could be further from the truth. Where "sir" is respectful and implies that the person so addressed is of superior status, "sirrah" is the opposite. At best, it's a word to use when addressing someone of inferior status. At worst (for example, in a case when you should be using "sir"), it's a terrible insult.

Later, I'll probably write up a piece describing proper usage of "ye/you" vs. "thee/thou," along with proper accompanying verb conjugations. If you slept through high school English, be afraid.  :o

Ilyas ibn Yahya:
When you talk about thee/thou don't forget thy/thine.

Malpan:
And the difference between "" ("þe") and "ye". Including the fact that a thorn isn't pronounced like 'y' even when it's written similar to one. >.<

Thrud:
Forsooth is another misused word that seems to come to mind.

Ilyas ibn Yahya:
Wherefore = Why/therefore
