I had an idea to pull back my bowstring with my mouth if I ever had only one hand left. I tried it and it worked ok. Can anyone think of a reason why this would not be legal?

I saw someone doing this at a battle last weekend.

I don't think it's against the MoA, but I do think it's a silly thing to do.

1. Sit down.
2. Put feet on the inside of the bow stave, held horizontally.
3. With your good arm, draw the bow back.
4. Release.

Hopefully, you'll hit something.

I saw it in a vid once, but I've never tried myself.

Yes Theron, it has been done and can be done. 

But Dusty Bones is right - it's not smart.  It's a low percentage shot at best and it's not a great thing to do to your teeth.  If your bow gets hit or jostled it could hurt you.

It's a great way to get injured. Do the foot bow thing, instead. It has a grand old tradition of badassery behind it with no accompanying dental bills.

Foot-firing is fun. I know of some girls that can do it with one foot, still standing!

My lovely wife was fond of doing that, back when she fought. Down an arm and facing a charging shieldman? She didn't afraid of that crap! THWAP!

It was really embarrassing when she shot them in the chest because they let their guard down while charging.

That depends on how much you like your face.

Firing with your feet is a much better option, but as I understand it, not so good for your bow. Unless as Stell mentioned you can do it while holding the handle with your foot and pulling the string with the other.

If you foot draw, check your draw length, and be very cautious because it's easy to over-pull with your legs.

Teeth? It's doable, but it hurts and I don't see teeth as the worlds greatest load bearing devices.

Yes, I've seen this too. It's probebly a better idea, if you have the time to sit down, that is.

I would not recommend firing a bow with your teeth. At practice a couple weeks ago, one of my fellow archers was holding an arrow in her mouth while waiting for the chance to get off a shot. I hit the shaft of her arrow with one of mine and the arrow snapped in half in her teeth and chipped her tooth.

For something fun to try, sure. But on the battle field it isn't a safe option.
