Got the email below today from Terry Pratchett's Publicity Manager.
I plan to film the video clip at Mayhem on Saturday, May 19.
The Guard is working on the details of the (very short) clip...but we'd like it to end with the camera pulling back to show as many Dagorhir as want to be in the shot, all singing "Smile, boys, that's the style!" - featuring lots of shields and unit banners.
Sir Terry Pratchett has sold more than 75 million books worldwide, most of them high fantasy (you know, aimed at the kind of people who would play Dagorhir). The Guard already placed "Dagorhir Lane" on the new map of Anhk-Morpork; here's another chance to get Dagorhir's face linked to something cool and broadcast to the World.

Hi David,
We were all so impressed with your video clip for the Ankh-Morpork Map competition that we’d like to ask you and the Guards a favour…
For The Long Earth, the new Terry Pratchett & Stephen Baxter book that we’re publishing on the 21st June, we’re creating a video clip of the first chapter. We’ve split the chapter up into lines and these lines have been given to famous faces, people involved with the Discworld and many more people besides. It’s an extract if you like and all the videos we get in will be spliced together to form a continuous narrative.
There’s a line in there that requires a little more oomph. I was wondering if I could tempt you and ‘the freaking awesome guards’ to film it for me? It would need to be on a smartphone, landscape, but apart from that can be in any way that you choose.
The line from the book is from a very famous song and probably deserves to be sung. It is the following:
‘“Pack up your troubles in your old kit bag and smile, smile, smile, while you’ve got a Lucifer to light your fag, smile boys, that’s the style...”’
Does this sound like something you might like to do? You’d be on the video with Terry and Rob and countless more besides. Please let me know if you’d like to take part as if you don’t want to I’ll need to find someone else to do it.
Thank you
Lynsey
