Bow Question
« on: May 23, 2012, 01:58:32 pm »
So I have a 58" longbow that is marked as 27#@22", I took it to my local archery shop and they tested it up to 26" with it being ~31#. They said they would not push it to 28" because they were afraid it would damage the bow. What are peoples thoughts on this? Thanks!

See what it pulls at at 28inches that is what it will be tested at. While you may not want to shoot it there always theres nothing to stop you from over drawing it thus it needs to be tested at the draw stops.

They need to be tested at 28". If they pull over 35#@28", they fail. If the bow can't be tested correctly, it should fail.

Every arrow on the field is going to have a draw stop at 28". If you're returning fire with those arrows, I'm going to expect you're drawing them to 28", even if your personal arrows have stops somewhere else, or are short enough to limit the draw to 24" or 26".

Don't risk destroying your bow. Leave it at home.
