Materials:

• 4-5' length of Fiberglass Rod
• Couch Foam
• Camping Pad
• Pipe Insulation Foam
• Duct Tape
• Rubber Cement
• Black Athletic Tape

Step One

Wrap tip of Fiberglass Rod with duct tape. The best method for this is to take a strip of ductape, and pull it in half lengthwise before wrapping the tip. You want to wrap enough tape so as to place a penny onto the tape.

Step Two

Using your rubber Cement, glue a penny to the top of the shaft, then further securing the penny with a piece of Duct Tape.

Step Three

Glue three 2 1/2" diameter pieces of foam together... do this twice. Cut out a section in the center of the foam so as it will fit around the tape and pennie (again, do this with both pieces). Glue a fourth piece to the bottom of each set with a hole in the center big enough to fit around the fiberglass rod. This in effect will create a locking mechanism for the head and butt of the javelin.

Slide both pieces onto the shaft of the javelin, large hole facing out.

Step Four

Duplicate step one and two on the other end of the fiberglass shaft.

Step Five

Liberally glue the penny and tape on each end of the shaft and slide foam over each end so as to cover the tape and penny ends.

Step Six

Glue two pieces of 2 1/2" Diameter foam together, do this twice.

Step Seven

Glue these pieces to the ends of the Javelin

Step Eight

Tape a chunk of 3 1/2" sq couch foam to one end of the Javenlin

Step Nine

Tape Pipe Insulation foam to the exposed shaft of the Javelin (note: you will have to cut away about 1/2" to 1" of foam down the length of the foam so as to not have the shaft "flop" around inside the foam. Also, gluing the foam to the shaft is also acceptable.

Step Ten - Final Step

Cover the Couch Foam with a cloth cover, and tape all other exposed areas of foam with the athletice tape.
